Silly Snake... Take a rope and tie one end down to something stable. Hold onto the other end and sit on your knees. Have your dc jump over the "sleeping snake". Then start to wiggle it a little bit "Oh, no! The snake is waking up!", jump over again. Wiggle some more, "The snake is really awake now!", jump over. Wiggle/shake the rope like crazy, "This is one silly snake!", jump over. Gently sway the rope side to side, "The snake is getting sleepy again", jump over. Settle rope back to laying still, "The snake is asleep again", jump over.
Make sure you hold your end loosely in your hand, so if their foot gets caught when jumping, it will just pull it out of your hand instead of tripping up your dc.
Jumping is a big milestone, and learning to jump over a moving object introduces pattern and rhythm into the mix. Repeative pounding motion, such as jumping, encourages bone growth in young children. In adults, it encourages shin splints, go figure.
