Success after IF

Just got a call; up for promotion at work, but...

nobody knows I'm PG yet. I'm not obligated to say anything right? Now, I know it's not legal for them to discriminate because I'm pg, but I know it happens. This would be a perfect opportunity! It would mean a lot more work in the short term, but less travel, which is key once the baby arrives. Thoughts???

  • Good for you!  I say go for it.  They don't need to know you are pg yet.

  • You're definitely not obligated to say anything. ?Do you think it would change their minds if they knew you were (since discrimination does happen)? ?

I'd definitely be all for it - especially considering there'd be less travel. ?Besides - you'll have this position for what, like 7 1/2 months before you'd be gone for mat. leave? ?That's time to get established and settled and be prepared to be off, I think.?

  • I agree, go for it!
  • Me too! Go for it...there are some people out there who wouldn't even know they're pregnant yet (unlike us who find out at 4 weeks!). ?
  • You are not obligated to tell them you are PG.  Congrats!

  • Congrats!! No need to tell! I am waiting to tell my work until the annual promotions come out.
  • Way to go. ?And I think you should go for it. ?No need to mention the baby. ?It has nothing to do with it. ?

  • Congrats!  I agree, go for it.  You have no obligation to tell them, and like PPs say, some people wouldn't even know they were PG yet this far along.  You would have months working before taking maternity leave.
  • Do not say anything!!!  I got a promotion right before I found out I was pregnant with Reed and it made a huge difference in my salary.  It was sooo worth it.  I don't think they would have given it to me if they had known I was going to get pregnant so soon.
  • Congratulations! Like the pp said, you do not have to tell them you are pregnant yet. Many people wouldn't even know yet! I wouldn't tell them if I were you. Good luck!

  • Definitely go for it and I agree with everyone else that you don't need to tell them you are pregnant yet.  Good luck - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

  • Go for it Sam! You deserve it. :) And, don't say a word about your pregnancy and don't feel bad about it. It doesn't mean you would do less of a job! I hope you get it!!!!!!!!

  • I just wanted to say GL and I know legally you do NOT have to tell them nor can they ask.
  • Go for it! I was up for a promotion when I was 3 months pregnant. I got the job and told my new boss after I accepted the new gig! Best Wishes!
