Re: Bush's getting on the helicopter....

  • LMAO!

I wonder if he is happy he's no longer president.

"you are the weakest link, goodbye"

    lol

  • and it's this kind of thinking that takes away from the today's intent which is a "peaceful exchange of power."

  • He is probably sad, but happy too. That is a lot of responsibility to have for 8 years.

I hope he goes home to Texas and has a happy life.

  • While I never ever liked Bush (too young to vote in 2000 and voted Kerry in 04), Today I am trying to focus on the positives of the future instead the negatives of the past. He did the best he could, and in his defense, he was elected twice. Not his fault. Like I said, I do not like the man nor do I agree with things he has done, but I hadn't thought of him once today.

Oh don't get me wrong, no ill will intent here. I was just commenting on the way the acutally moved everyone in and out. I thought the exchange between the 2 couples at the door to the copter was genuine and heartfelt. I'm sure the Bush's will miss thier home of 8 years but are looking forward to the peace and quiet of thier new life.

      Very well said.
  • Thank God. That idiot was a train wreck.

  • It isn't like he was voted out.  He was leaving regardless.   He said that he wanted to leave with dignity and not do what Clinton did when he (Bush) was first inaugurated.  Clinton just about refused to leave the stage.

  • So, let's say I invite somebody into my house. (I use "invite" very reluctantly in this analogy, BTW.) And they come in and sh!t on my floor. And then they smile idiotically at me as I pull out the paper towels to clean up the mess.

I'm supposed to pretend I'm not excited and relieved when they put on their coat to leave?

Um, no. I disagree. I put in my time with GWB. We all did. People have every right to be relieved that he's going home.?

It is this *** that drives me absolutely nuts. ?I imagine that at some point you have thought or said "even if you didn't vote for him, he is now your President."

Bush was also your President. ?Agree or not- it still deserves respect. ?

I do not agree with Barack Obama. ?I did not vote for Barack Obama.

But you bet your ass he has my respect and support if for no other reason than he is my President.?

    I'm with you.

  • I can't imagine how emotional it is for any President to leave the White House.  I imagine it would be such a crazy mix of emotions.

I watched an interview he did the other day, and he was talking about it...and he said he was happy to have a sense of normality again, but that he wasn't sure how he would fill the void of leaving the Presidency.

It's no wonder they all take super long vacays after they are done.  I would think I would need tons of time off to recover.

I respected him when he first took office, until he lost my respect by the choices he made.  I don't give respect to people based solely on their title or position in life.

Yes, thank you Babydon'tforget! And for that I say, see ya!

Mandy, I have never hid the fact that I detest Bush and never once have I told people they have to respect Obama just because he's president. Respect has to be earned in my opinion and Bush lost mine long, long ago.

  • That was perfectly put. Unfortunately, Bush ran this country into the ground with bad decisions and a complete failure to inspire anything from this country - especially confidence. Frankly, he could have done all of the same things and if he had been capable of making us believe in him, the outcome would have been better, but he wasn't. His legacy is piss poor and I'm happy to have a change.

  • Oh, now I am ALL fired up. Here's part of my blog from election day:

At the end of the day, the responsibility for greatness in the United States lies in each of our hands, it is our job to raise good children, work hard, make smart financial decisions, and give back to the communities we live in. It will be his job to inspire us to do so. I can't wait to see what happens when he does.

This is where GWB failed miserably, and where I believe Obama will succeed.
