Are there any convertible car seats that use a base like infant car seats?
If you have a nanny, babysitter or grandparent who has a car seat, do they keep it in their car all the time or do they remove it on weekends and only use it when they are caring for the child?
TIA!
Re: Convertible car seats w/base for easy removal?
I've never heard of a convertible seat with a removable base.?
My best friend who is a nanny keeps carseats in her car for the kids. Most caregivers I know have less expensive seats in their car. It can be a lot of work to move carseats & ensure they are installed properly each time.?
I do not know of any that have a base. ?I would be suprised if there is. ?They are very heavy and I think would not engineer well into a removable base design.
As for the other question, I would presume they would do what is?convenient?for them. ?If it doesn't bother them to have it in all the time, it would be easier to keep it there. ?If they plan on taking it out often, make sure you get an easy to install one. ?I only have experience with the Britax Marathon, but it only takes me 2 minutes to get in securely and only a minute to get out. ?I have heard of some other car seats being much harder to install.
In my situation, I would probably just let them borrow my car - but I don't have anyone that would be keeping her on a frequent basis.

I don't think there are any.
MIL has a seat in her car that stays there. She's the only person that ever takes him anywhere, other than us. We got her an inexpensive Evenflo seat.
