Re: PG and TTC Check in!

  • Preggers
    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?  8 weeks.  Nothing new, just feeling YUCKY

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?  I'm on vacation with the little Miss since daycare is on vacation.    We plan on goingto story time at teh library, going to Little Gym and open if anyone wants a playdate!

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?  Feb 4th and I get to see the baby!

    4.
When did you "pop"?  hmm, wearing maternity clothes helped.  I do not remember "popping" though last time.
    5.
What did you end up needing for the baby that you never even thought of before they were born?  Nightlights for the hallways and our room after we came home

    6.  Who will you have in the delivery room?  Just DH.  I was so much pain so quickly I did NOT want anyone coming in the room.  MANY Dr's and nurses were there though since the baby's heartrate dropped.

    7.   If Ins covered PG'y massage, how did you find out? Just call your insurance provider?  Did you need a Dr?s note also?  My question

     8. For experienced mommies - what's the one thing you wish you'd brought to the hospital and didn't.  DH says, FOOD for him.    He wants to bring a cooler for this time.  ;)
9   If you got stretch marks, when did they first appear?  I didn't get ANY, THEN the day we came HOME from the hospital, I saw one.  ughhhh.  (It's gone now though  ;)

    3.   Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day? I cut it out the day I got a BFP.

    4.  How early did you start looking for daycare?  1 month before maternity leave was up.  LATE, I know!  I was in denial.

  • My first appointment went great!  I did get to see the baby, and they changed my due date to 8/12, so I'm a week further along than I thought:).

    Preggers
    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?  I'm almost 11 weeks.  Nothing new.

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?  Watching the inaguration.  It's neat to be able to see such a historic moment.

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?  I have my nuchal translucency u/s on 1/28.

    4.   When did you "pop"?  Way, way early.  Last time I did at 11 weeks.  This time I did closer to 8 weeks.  I am HUGE right now, no joke.  I look at least 6 months pregnant already.

    5.
What did you end up needing for the baby that you never even thought of before they were born?  I wish I had bought a white noise machine that plays for longer than a few minutes.  I also had to go out and buy velcro swaddle blankets, because babies sleep much better swaddled.

    6.  Who will you have in the delivery room?  Other than the medical staff, just DH.  I'd let my mom come in as well, but I doubt she will get here in time.

    7.   If Ins covered PG'y massage, how did you find out? Just call your insurance provider?  Did you need a Dr?s note also?  If you find out, let me know!

     8. For experienced mommies - what's the one thing you wish you'd brought to the hospital and didn't.  I wish I had brough clothes for DD is a size preemie. Size NB was way too big.  I also wish I had brought different nursing pjs.  The ones I brough were long-sleeved, and I swelled up so much that the sleeves were WAY too tight.  This time I'm going to bring a nursing tank.

9   If you got stretch marks, when did they first appear?  Last time I got tiny white stretch marks after delivery.  They are already gone.

    10
    .  Questions for next week?

    TTC
    1. What cycle are you on? Waiting to O or 2WW?

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?

    3.   Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day?  I didn't change my caffeine intake while TTC.

    4.  How early did you start looking for daycare?  I waited until after DD was born, because MIL was supposed to watch DD for us.  That didn't work out, so I started looking about a month before I went back to work and it was really stressful.  Plan on spending at least 4 months to find a good day care provider, just to be safe.

     5. How do you deal with family members who think they get a say in your timeline for TTC?  Um, no one said anything like that to me.  If they did, I'd tell them to MYOB.  How rude.

    6.  Besides TCOYF, any other great books for pregnancy prep?  You could always get What to Eat WhenYou're Expecting.  It's nice to make gradual changes to your diet so that you don't have to change everythign at one after you get PG.

    7. For those of you who are very career driven, how did you deal with family members who openly disagree with your choice to continue to work and send your child to daycare? My mom insists "I won't let my grandchild go to daycare!" and that we can rally a variety of family members to each take a day.  It sounds like a nightmare.  Yeah, it sounds like a nightmare to me, too.  You could always have your mom as a back-up.  There are a lot of benefits to day care.  For example, kids who go to day care are less likely to get certain forms of childhood leukemia.  There are also a lot of social and learning opportunities.  Not that you should have to convince your mom.  It's ultimately up to you, and you don't have to defend your decision.

     4.  Questions for next week?

    .??Questions for next week?
  • CONGRATS to all of the new mommies!!

    TTC
    1. What cycle are you on? Waiting to O or 2WW? 10 / 2ww

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? The weekend!

    3.   Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day? Yes. If I have any caffeine it's either 1 diet coke, latte, or tea a day, but never everyday.

    4.  How early did you start looking for daycare? We have not looked at daycare yet.

     5. How do you deal with family members who think they get a say in your timeline for TTC? Our families are so great about the whole process, especially mine, who is very sensitive about it seeing as my oldest brother and his wife cannot conceive (he's had cancer 3x and is unable to). We have one family member (on DH's side) who is a bit ignorant about it all (mainly because she's 23 and has been PG 4 times now). I just don't think it occurs to her that getting PG does not come naturally for everyone. I just choose not to engage her in conversations on the topic (it helps that she lives on the other side of the country).

    6.  Besides TCOYF, any other great books for pregnancy prep? I'll be curious to hear what other books you are reading. I've only read TCOYF.

    7. For those of you who are very career driven, how did you deal with family members who openly disagree with your choice to continue to work and send your child to daycare?  I am a bit career driven but none of our family members say anything about that. My family supports whatever we decide to to. Luckily though, everyone in my family lives locally (with 3 of us kids living within 15 minutes of each other) so there has been talk of doing a "nanny share" :)

    4.  Questions for next week? Do you currently have an OBGYN or just a GYN? If the latter, will you wait until you are PG to switch?

  • My official due date is August 27th.

    Preggers
    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? 9 weeks, nothing new

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?  Seeing our little one at the ultrasound appointment tomorrow, last one with the RE.

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?  Tomorrow, last appointment w/ RE (hopefully) and then next Tuesday is our first appointment with the Midwife.  Yah!

    4.
    When did you "pop"? N/A

    5.
What did you end up needing for the baby that you never even thought of before they were born? N/A

    6.  Who will you have in the delivery room? Just DH, maybe my mom too (she's a nurse).

    7.   If Ins covered PG'y massage, how did you find out? Just call your insurance provider?  Did you need a Dr?s note also? N/A

     8. For experienced mommies - what's the one thing you wish you'd brought to the hospital and didn't. N/A?

9   If you got stretch marks, when did they first appear?  I have stretch marks from gaining weight before pregnancy...so I'll probably get them w/ baby too.  :-(

    10
.  Questions for next week?  Nope

    TTC
    3.   Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day?  Since we did IVF, I started to cut it out when we started STIMS.  They told us absolutely no alcohol from that point forward and to start cutting caffeine out.  I started adding 1/2 decaf beans, then we switched over to all decaf for me.

    4.  How early did you start looking for daycare?  I already know where we want to go and I just told the gal on Sunday that we are expecting.  She is going to put me on the list and run through the schedule to figureout when we can start.  :-)

     5. How do you deal with family members who think they get a say in your timeline for TTC?  We never had this problem.  I'd probably just thank them for their advise and change the subject.

    6.  Besides TCOYF, any other great books for pregnancy prep? Didn't buy one until we were pregnant.

    7. For those of you who are very career driven, how did you deal with family members who openly disagree with your choice to continue to work and send your child to daycare? My mom insists "I won't let my grandchild go to daycare!" and that we can rally a variety of family members to each take a day.  It sounds like a nightmare.  Well that reaction is very weird...what do they have against daycare?  But if my mom volunteered to watch our little one for the first yr or 2, that would be awesome!!

My siggy never works right! Our bug is almost 3 now! image
  • Whoa I didnt even remember that I had myself added to the list.  I'm more of a lurker since I'm usually on when I'm at work.  Anyways...pretty sure I'll be having the little one in May since I'm having a C-section. (Medical reasons.) Oh and the little one is a boy!  We are so excited!  Ok onto the questions.

    Preggers
    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?

21...oh my back!  office chair kills me!

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?

Feeling more movement...I've really started to feel him move this past weekend and I love it!

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?

2/10...another ultra sound.  They couldnt see everything they wanted to at the last one.  Everythings ok though!

    4.
    When did you "pop"?

I'm not sure...but its definatly looking like baby belly and not just mcdonalds belly! :)

    5.
What did you end up needing for the baby that you never even thought of before they were born?

I haven't bought a single thing yet and even though I've seen countless friends and relatives have babies and seen what gets used and what doesn't...I still want everything imaginable!

    6.  Who will you have in the delivery room?

    My husband...hopefully my mom too.

    7.   If Ins covered PG'y massage, how did you find out? Just call your insurance provider?  Did you need a Dr?s note also?

I wish mine did.  I need one!

     8. For experienced mommies - what's the one thing you wish you'd brought to the hospital and didn't.

    N/A

9   If you got stretch marks, when did they first appear?

I already had them...so a few more wont hurt!  lol

    10
    .  Questions for next week?

Also known as *BreeBree13* Stupid bump keeps logging me in under my old name!

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?? 15w/1d, feeling good... pants a little tighter

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?? Inauguration party at work tomorrow

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?? Feb 3.? Not exactly sure.

    4. ??When did you "pop"?? N/A.? I haven't yet.

5.? ?What did you end up needing for the baby that you never even thought of before they were born?? N/A

6.? Who will you have in the delivery room?? DH.? Maybe mom, but I'm not sure yet.? I'd like to keep it small - I don't need a big audience.

    7. ?If Ins covered PG'y massage, how did you find out? Just call your insurance provider?? Did you need a Dr?s note also?? Called provider - massage is covered but I need a referral.

    8. For experienced mommies - what's the one thing you wish you'd brought to the hospital and didn't.? Do tell.? :)

9 ??If you got stretch marks, when did they first appear?? N/A

10.? Questions for next week?? I don't feel super informed about what will happen when at appointments.? Did your doc lay it all out for you?? Or am I just not asking the right questions?

    TTC
3.?? Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day?? I already didn't drink a ton of caffeine, so I didn't really cut back when TTC.? But I did cut back my alcohol intake substantially.

    ?

    5. How do you deal with family members who think they get a say in your timeline for TTC?? We didn't have too many issues with this, but ultimately we politely said that we, as a couple, would decide when the right time was for us, thankyouverymuch.

  • 1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains???I'm almost 19 weeks.? Nothing new really, feelin' pretty good.
    2. What are you looking forward to this next week???Watching the inaguration, DH's birthday.
?3.?When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment???I have my big u/s on the 27th.

4.???When did you "pop"???17 weeks or so? ?
    5.???
What did you end up needing for the baby that you never even thought of before they were born???Don't know! This is one of those times I wish the mommies who have "graduated" would still chime in, the way we've been asked to on the ttc poll. :)?6.??Who will you have in the delivery room???Just DH and maybe a Doula. ?I've thought about my mom, but you never know when she'll be an asset and when she'll be a liability.?7.???If Ins covered PG'y massage, how did you find out? Just call your insurance provider???Did you need a Dr?s note also??I mentioned to my midwife about my sore back and she said my plan may cover a certain number of massages per year, and DH said ours does. So once I chose a massage therapist off our insurance's approved list, she wrote me a referral. Still waiting for it to come through. (group health)??8.?For experienced mommies - what's the one thing you wish you'd brought to the hospital and didn't.??I don't know. But whoever said snacks for DH is a genius. DH has a serious yogurt addiction so I'll be sure he has his own cooler. :)?9???If you got stretch marks, when did they first appear???My question.

    10
.??Questions for next week???Are you doing your Kegel exercises? If so, how do you remember to do them - I keep forgetting.??TTC
    1. What cycle are you on? Waiting to O or 2WW?

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?

3.???Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day???I had cut down mine before ttc as it was only from coffee and coffee was giving me heartburn.
?4.??How?early did you start looking for daycare???N/A?5.?How do you deal with family members who think they get a say in your timeline for TTC???I didn't have that problem but with nosy people I always just said I'd let them know when I had something to report. The annoying girl at the front desk of the YMCA who has been asking me about it for nearly a year still doesn't know I'm pg. I don't plan on telling her - let her figure it out. :)?6.??Besides TCOYF, any other great books for pregnancy prep???What to Eat When You're Expecting was a good suggestion.?7.?For those of you who are very career driven, how did you deal with family members who openly disagree with your choice to continue to work and send your child to daycare? My mom insists "I won't let my grandchild go to daycare!" and that we can rally a variety of family members to each take a day.? It sounds like a nightmare.??It sounds like she doesn't know that daycare really can be beneficial to a child. I will be a SAHM and I wish we could afford to do daycare just b/c I think it is really good for a child to be exposed physically and socially to other children. If you make her understand that you appreciate her willingness to babysit and promise to take her up on it regularly, but insist that you feel daycare is an important part of your baby's development, it really isn't her place to argue with you.??4.??Questions for next week?
  • TTC
    1. What cycle are you on? Waiting to O or 2WW? Who knows? First month off BC. No period yet and a negative test.

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? I'm glad it's a short week since I had today off.

    3.   Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day? This was my question. I have one can of diet mt. dew every day. And then a couple of days a week I may have a tall Starbucks latte or hot tea. And then some days I have iced tea too. I just am unsure if that's a lot of caffeine. I think I should cut out the diet dew, but it's hard to make the committment.

    4.  How early did you start looking for daycare? Every once in awhile I look at craigslist postings, just to get an idea of what's out there in that world. But I'm not going to get serious about looking until I get a BFP.

     5. How do you deal with family members who think they get a say in your timeline for TTC? I'm not sure; I'd say avoid talking about it. They can't say much after you're pregnant. Most of my family members don't know. My parents have a vague idea and haven't said much. But my sister is getting married in March and she is VERY upset that I'm TTC. Even IF I got pregnant right away, I would only be like 3 months along at the wedding and wouldn't even show or tell anyone until after her day. So right now, I just avoid talking with her about it. I figure if it happens, then we can deal with it. It just makes me sad that she thinks I'm being selfish by wanting to start my family now.

    6.  Besides TCOYF, any other great books for pregnancy prep? Don't know.

    7. For those of you who are very career driven, how did you deal with family members who openly disagree with your choice to continue to work and send your child to daycare? My mom insists "I won't let my grandchild go to daycare!" and that we can rally a variety of family members to each take a day.  It sounds like a nightmare. I don't forsee that being a problem for me. They know that my career is important to me and I don't live anywhere near family, so day care is just a given.

    8. Questions for next week? If you and DH have opposite work schedules, how did you fit in TTC - stay up late, wake up at odd times, only try on days off, etc.?

    1. What cycle are you on? Waiting to O or 2WW? Waiting to O.

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?

    3.   Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day?  I really do not drink anything with caffeine.  It is more my husband who drinks a lot of coffee.

    4.  How early did you start looking for daycare?  First things first--gotta to have a healthy pregnancy first.

     5. How do you deal with family members who think they get a say in your timeline for TTC?  The family members really are happy for whatever happens, and there is no pressure.

    6.  Besides TCOYF, any other great books for pregnancy prep?

    7. For those of you who are very career driven, how did you deal with family members who openly disagree with your choice to continue to work and send your child to daycare? My mom insists "I won't let my grandchild go to daycare!" and that we can rally a variety of family members to each take a day.  It sounds like a nightmare.  Honestly, I really feel that family members will help out the most the first couple of months--something about a first born child that gets everyone excited, and then when the baby is older, --daycare will just be a given and a blessing for everyone.

    5.

    1. What week are you in? 40 weeks, today's my due date and here I am, still pregnant.  Any new aches or pains?  does bitterness count as an ache or pain?

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?  I better be having a baby dangit!!

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?  It was today, we set an induction appt for next week just in case...

    4.
When did you "pop"?   I wish I had taken more pictures so I could remember...  I want to say somewhere around 23ish weeks?  but I could be way off...

    5.
What did you end up needing for the baby that you never even thought of before they were born?  I guess I will see.

    6.  Who will you have in the delivery room?  I dont know if my mom realizes it, but it will definitely just be dh and I (and a bunch of drs and nurses of course)

    7.   If Ins covered PG'y massage, how did you find out?  Just call your insurance provider?  Did you need a Dr?s note also? I just called insurance provider to ask, thats also how I found out if a breast pump was covered.  Neither were so that was the end of that.

     8. For experienced mommies - what's the one thing you wish you'd brought to the hospital and didn't.

9   If you got stretch marks, when did they first appear?  Not until a few (3ish) weeks ago,  I have several now but since they are light in color I am hoping they fade over time.

    1. What cycle are you on? Waiting to O or 2WW?

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?

    3.   Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day?  I didnt cut down on anything when I was TTC, especially caffeine!  How could I be expected to have the energy for all that sex if I was caffeine deprived???

    4.  How early did you start looking for daycare?  We signed up almost as soon as we found out we were pregnant.

     5. How do you deal with family members who think they get a say in your timeline for TTC?   We never even gave them the option to think they had a say,  we didnt tell anyone we were ttc.

I was actually hoping that my mom would want to be my daycare since she doesnt work or do anything. but no luck.   This would be one of those situations where you just have to tell said family member that you arent going to shuffle your child about every day, and its really none of their business.

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Week 31, 32 on Wednesday! Still dealing with an achy back. I feel yucky today but I don't think it's PG related, feels more like a bug.

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? A four day work week, and baby shower #2 on Saturday!

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Next week Thursday, I think. Nothing special that I know of.

    4.
When did you "pop"? I don't know if I ever really popped, just have been getting a little bigger every week. I started to really look pregnant, as opposed to maybe just having a tummy, probably around 26 weeks or so?
    5.
What did you end up needing for the baby that you never even thought of before they were born? Not sure, looking forward to others' ideas here.

    6.  Who will you have in the delivery room? DH, doula, and probably my mom.

    7.   If Ins covered PG'y massage, how did you find out? Just call your insurance provider?  Did you need a Dr?s note also? I looked on Aetna's website and was much dismayed to see that my plan (the public employees) only covers it for an injury. I don't think pregnancy will be in that category, but I figure I'll ask my doc what she thinks at my next visit. Massage would feel so good on my back but it's so expensive without insurance!

     8. For experienced mommies - what's the one thing you wish you'd brought to the hospital and didn't.
9   If you got stretch marks, when did they first appear? I don't think I have any yet, but still have 9 weeks to go!

    .  Questions for next week?

    TTC

    3.   Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day? I did cut back when TTC, didn't eliminate it but went down to less than a cup of coffee most days.

    4.  How early did you start looking for daycare? Not while TTC as I had no idea how long it would take, and not until I was more than 20 weeks pregnant did we start. It's hard as some places (especially in Seattle) have long wait lists and others don't want to hold a spot too far in advance if someone can fill it right away.

     5. How do you deal with family members who think they get a say in your timeline for TTC? We got questions about "when are you going to have a baby" and even once we had started TTC I would just give a vague "Pretty soon" or "In the next year"...I didn't want to say we were trying and then get hounded about if it had happened yet.

    6.  Besides TCOYF, any other great books for pregnancy prep? That's the only one I read ahead of time.

    7. For those of you who are very career driven, how did you deal with family members who openly disagree with your choice to continue to work and send your child to daycare? My mom insists "I won't let my grandchild go to daycare!" and that we can rally a variety of family members to each take a day.  It sounds like a nightmare. I haven't run into this, I will be going back to work (part-time) but haven't gotten any flack for that. I know some people who've done the rotating family thing with success, but most of them end up only doing it for the first year or so, as it certainly can have drawbacks also.

  • I forgot a book to recommend! The Fertility Diet. It's really interesting and I followed most of their recommendations while TTC. I haven't read the other responses yet so this may have already been mentioned, but it's a good one.

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?  I am 7w0d today!  The longest i have been pregnant.  :-)  M/S is 100% here -- dry heaves and all.  I have to eat all the time to keep the m/s at bay.

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?  My first OB appt tomorrow.  I am hoping that we get another u/s too.  ::fingers crossed::

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?  See above!

    4.
When did you "pop"?  From the bloat -- this week.  I think I can still suck it in though, ha-ha.
    5.
What did you end up needing for the baby that you never even thought of before they were born? N/A

    6.  Who will you have in the delivery room?  Doctors/nurses/DH

    7.   If Ins covered PG'y massage, how did you find out? Just call your insurance provider?  Did you need a Dr?s note also?  Don't know -- that is a good thing to check out!

     8. For experienced mommies - what's the one thing you wish you'd brought to the hospital and didn't.  Interested to hear....
9   If you got stretch marks, when did they first appear?  At puberty -- so I am not that concerned about getting them during pregnancy.

    TTC

    3.   Have you cut down on caffeine since TTC? How much do you drink in a day?  I cut down while TTC and completely (minus chocolate) gave it up.

    4.  How early did you start looking for daycare?  I wondered about this -- and was going to post here tonight!

    6.  Besides TCOYF, any other great books for pregnancy prep?  I thought that was the best.  And reading on fertility friend.

    7. For those of you who are very career driven, how did you deal with family members who openly disagree with your choice to continue to work and send your child to daycare? I have 100% support.  I know I will go back full time after maternity leave -- though I know that will be so hard to do.

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? 19-20.... nothing new, actually feeling the best I've felt yet!

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? I'm in Chicago for work right now, so I'm looking forward to being home on Friday.

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Mid February is our next u/s with the Maternal Fetal Medicine guy and then OB a few weeks later.

    4.
When did you "pop"? I think just in the last 2 weeks.... its hard to tell but I feel like I can walk around and be fairly confident that people notice this is a baby bump and not just a bump.

    5.
What did you end up needing for the baby that you never even thought of before they were born? Do tell....

    6.  Who will you have in the delivery room? DH....and not sure beyond that.

    7.   If Ins covered PG'y massage, how did you find out? Just call your insurance provider?  Did you need a Dr?s note also? I think mine is covered if I go to a physical therapist. I'm actually planning to call when I get home b/c my back is killing me.

     8. For experienced mommies - what's the one thing you wish you'd brought to the hospital and didn't.

9   If you got stretch marks, when did they first appear? I'm guessing there is no question I will get them since I've read many stories of "twin skin" on the multiples board....

    TTC

    4.  How early did you start looking for daycare? We've barely started. I called one place and almost choked when I heard the price so we haven't called anyone else. We are literally in double trouble....

    7. For those of you who are very career driven, how did you deal with family members who openly disagree with your choice to continue to work and send your child to daycare?

I just say, "I'm planning to return to work because I'm not ready to step off the career path yet. I might change my mind later, but for now thats the plan." and thats that...... they don't get a say in DH and my life.
