update on Kendall stopped breathing sorry long

well we are finally home after tons of tests everything came back normal so what they said it could have been is that she had a silent episode of choking that lead to her turning white. Then she might have scared herself and that might have made her stop breathing. Well iam just more then ever thankfull that she is healthy i just pray and hope that we dont go thru this again with her or ever with her twin brother Brady.

I want to thank everyone that said a prayer for us or keep us in there prayers.

the only other thing that made me so upset was her first visit at the first hospital the nurse that drew her blood and did her iv never  ever  wore  gloves at all when she did it. Also what happened Kendall ended up having blood back up in the butterfly needle tubing and it came on the nurses hand and she just went about her way to finish what she was doing.

I wanted to ask as mothers or soon to be mothers how would this make you feel? I wasnt happy. please write me back some opions thanks again.

Re: update on Kendall stopped breathing sorry long

  • I'm an ER nurse.  I think it's extremely difficult to feel a vein on a baby while wearing gloves.  I usually only wear one on the hand that is starting the iv because I don't want to miss and have to poke again.  Did the blood come out when she was starting the iv?  That happens frequently, especially if it's a really good vein and she didn't anchor it enough when hooking up the tubing.  It's happened to me a ton of times, especially when I was learning how to do it.  With that being said, I hope she washed her hands before she did anything.

  • When Olivia has gotten blood drawn the tech person will often tear off the tip of the glove for the finger he/she is using to find the vein.  They say it is easier that way.

If you ever have to get blood drawn (or something similiar) and the person isn't wearing gloves than I would just ask if they washed their hands.

  • I'm glad to hear that Kendall is OK. I can't imagine how scary that must have been. ((HUGS))
