Question about tonsils

Brenna was diagnosed with a tonsilith a little over a week ago.  It is a stone caused by foreign particles caught in a tonsil.  She hasn't been feeling well, so I looked at her throat tonight, and I suspect tonsillitis as her tonsils are enlarged and inflamed more than they were when the pedi first showed me the tonsilith.  She has a low grade fever 99.8 and is somewhat fussy.  Brenna never gets fussy, so we haven't learned what "I am sick" fussy is for her.  Anyone have any experience with infantile tonsillitis?  DS was 9 when he had throat problems, so I can't compare.  I will call the pedi tomorrow, but I was just wondering how out of the norm is this at under 6 months. Tonsilitis anyone?

Re: Question about tonsils

  • OOhhh... poor girl!!!  I wish I could help you but I don't know anything about it.  Did you give her any tylenol?? (would it help?)

  • Yes, we did give Tylenol.  It does not help that the next two teeth are showing already.  I gave Tylenol and teething tabs.  No help.  We were chalking it up to teeth, but after seeing the tonsils, I am not convinced that is the problem.
