Recommendations for making baby food

We are trying to figure out what to put on our registry and we were thinking about making our own baby food, do any of you have experience with this?

If so what appliances do you use?

Also does anyone do their own juices? If so do you feel like you waste alot of the fruit? And what type of juicer do you have?

Thanks so much

  • The Magic Bullet mini-blender works great for baby food!

  • I used our food processor to puree baby food. For stuff with a skin (like peas), I would push it through a mesh sieve to remove the tough skin chunks.

If I was organized enough to make food ahead of time, I would freeze it in a regular ice cube tray, then when frozen pop out the cubes and put them in a zip loc.

  • LOVE my Magic Bullet - super easy to use and clean.
  • I either use my magic bullet, or my mom got me a hand stick blender for Christmas and I love that as well.
  • i use a mini cuisinart prep and love it!
  • haha the MAGIC BULLET sounds like somthing else ladies! especially based upon how much you all LOVE it!! :)

  • I use our blender on puree.  There's really nothing you need to register for in order to make your own baby food that I can think of.  We just purchased regular ice cube trays and pour the purees into the trays.  Then when they are frozen we pop them out and store in gallon freezer bags.  Label and done.
  • We use the food processor and ice cube trays, too.

We aren't making our own juice because we aren't going to give our kids juice.  There's almost no nutritional value in juice, and it's a big contributor to childhood obesity.
