yeah, that should be the last thing on your mind. plus, mother nature takes care of it anyway. no one thinks their own baby is ugly.
there were times when Tru was awkward looking, but all newborns are. there are rare newborns that escape the old man syndrome, but there is also a reason all ads and anything featuring a baby has one that is older than 4 mos.
I've never met a new mother who thought her baby was ugly. The second you lay eyes on that newborn, you pretty much fall in love. You may note some imperfections but it doesn't change the way you feel about your baby. Not to worry!
DH had the same worry. Then, after F was born he was convinced he was blinded by the fact that he was her dad and that she really was an ugly baby and he couldn't see it.
You will love NoName no matter what he looks like and I am positive that he will be absolutely adorable!
No, it is not sad that you worry about that. I worried about it all the time! and there were definite days and pictures that I look back at that I think my kid was definitely verging on ugly. Yeah, mommy goggles and all that, but man there are some not-good pictures.
and to add something else to the mix: I was always super-worried that I wouldn't think my kids were cute b/c they wouldn't be blonde. Being blonde myself, I always imagined having blonde little girls of my own one day. When I married my DH, I knew I was giving up that dream forever! Luckily, I even think my brunettes are pretty.
I have the same worry. Nightmares actually. It scares the hell out of me to be perfectly honest. DH and I were kind of hit as babies so I worry. Although I'm sure I'll think he's the most handsome thing that has ever graced the planet tomorrow afternoon, it's a very real fear of mine today.
I worry about it, too. I saw some early early baby pics of DH, and he had the old man symdrome - he was NOT cute, but after that, he was a cute baby growing up so here's to hoping junior gets all the "good" genes! lol.
My sister has really cute girls, so I was worried about the "comparison". Luckily, we are having a boy, but I still worry.
Totally normal. I remember when Sweetness was born, her mother was so worried that she'd be an ugly baby. As soon as I saw Sweetness, I said "She is so beautiful!" and she was. But the first thing her mother said was, "Tell me the truth, does she look like a monkey baby? Or an old man? Seriously? Does she? Are you just saying that she looks pretty to make me feel better?" It took me a while to convince her that Sweetness was pretty. All newborns are beautiful!

ha! i was just reading the responses and i don't know if it came across the way it was intended. i meant it like "don't worry. that's the last thing you need to be worried about b/c your baby will be cute." not like "why worry abotu that when you have other thinsg to worry about."
For sure, most babies are pretty strange looking for a while. Sam looked like Ed Koch when he was born. And Hannah was cute when she first was born, but then was a little weird looking after her hair fell out around 2 months. Now that she has hair again, she's a beauty. At least I think so.
I also worried about what my daughter would look like. My sister-in-law (on DH's side) had told me that her daughter looked exactly like our father-in-law when she was born, and that was not an exciting prospect for me!
Being that my DH is Hispanic, I was also a little wistful about not having a blue or green eyed child, like everyone in my family. However, of course, I fell in complete love with DD's big brown eyes and think they're gorgeous.
Dont' feel bad, I am pretty sure this is common. I got an 3-D Ultrasound of my little guy(who is still in the oven) and I was a little worried about what he is gonna look like. Hoping for some cute looks and features..... DH thinks that all newborns (from the womb) look like aliens, lol( which is mainly due to the head shape).
To be quite honest, I dont' recall ever seeing an ugly baby, maybe odd at times, but not ugly. I am sure you will love this little bundle the same and I am sure it will be far from ugly.

Sometimes Sweetness looked like Marlon Brando in the Godfather. LOL

Oh I am a rare bird and think that all babies are ugly fresh out of the shoot. My own included.
seriously... I even look at pictures of Joe and say... man, he was an ugly baby!
but he sure turned out cute! and yours will be adorable.
