Lucky*Ducky

My DH sounds exactly like yours! That is why we have nothing good in the house. If we have it, he will eat it, so I just don't buy it. I actually told him that he is not allowed to go to the store anymore! For real. I had to have him stop at Walmart on the way home from work last week and he came home with what I asked him to get plus a case of Ramen noodles and lots of other junk. Ugh! He could have at least bought me some Pop Tarts to make up for it! Wink

Yeah, usually I go grocery shopping for food for the week.  I only buy what Im making for dinner each night and what he can fix for lunch for the kids for lunch each day.  I do it for 5-7 days at a time.  I hate just having food in the house but not knowing what to cook and what we have.  Then dh goes and buys him "his' food.  He spends almost as much as I do on just junk.  He bought soup once when he was sick.  Ok thats good...but he bought 12 cans of soup.  He ate 3-4.  We live in a small town house...no room for 8 extra cans of soup.  Thats not even the junk food.  He bought 5 types of chips, 3 types of cookies and a HUGE bag or M&Ms for the kids.  Then he bought 3 boxes of the fruit snacks.  He gives them 2 a day most days.  I used to give the kids fruit/veggies for snacks, now they wont eat it for snack.  They want junk.  They do eat the fruit/veggies during meals though. I just use fresh fruit/veggies as sides.  They love it but would rather have junk for snacks.  It used to be the fruit over candy.  Dh has turned them into junk craving snackers and it drives me crazy.

I have gotten to where when dh brings in the junk I say things like "how much did you spend on your heart attack"  or "how much was all that extra fat?"  It may be mean but he has gained over 100lbs in 4.5yrs and its not my home cooking doing it either.  Its the junk.

  • I really feel for you and can relate. Fortunately (I guess) DH works a lot, so I have more influence over DS's food choices then DH does. He has gained sooo much weight since we met and it makes me really sad. Plus I think it is such I waste for him to be eating more food then he really needs, KWIM? Seriously, I am not letting him go to the store anymore unless it is an emergency.

Yeah, dh stays home with the kids and it sucks.  He feeds them junk all day.  If he doesnt feel like making what I have picked out for them for lunch or dinner when I work late he makes them hot dogs or pizza all the time.  In one week he fed them hot dogs twice (once for dinner, once for lunch)  pizza, grilled cheese (for lunch is cool, but for dinner instead of cooking a full meal out being lazy its not cool with me)  I buy fresh meat and he lets it spoil because hes too lazy to cook a meal.  He also thinks that Vieanna sausages, chips and a drink is enough for lunch.  (for toddlers 2.5yrs and 3.5yrs old)

But yeah, dh buys so much junk and is passing it on to the kids.
