Success after IF

NE1 have their big u/s very early and have to go back?

I ended up having my big u/s during a f/u to my lost twin at 16w0d.  They didn't get a good look at a couple heart details so I go back next Wednesday at 20w1d.  Anyway, do you think they will do everything over again or will they just look at the heart for what they are missing.  Anyone have a similar situation?  What ended up happening?

TIA

Re: NE1 have their big u/s very early and have to go back?

  • I had my BIG u/s at 19 w 4 d with maternal fetal medicine b/c my sister have a cleft palate (not lip) and they like to check facial features just in case, my daughter kept putting her head into my placenta everytime they when to look at her face or put her hands over her ace, we have to go back when I am 22 weeks to do a recheck, they told me theya re not worried just want to recheck.  SO I am assuming they will just check that and maybe her weight b/c she was on the small side which my DD was also.

  • Mine was at 18w5d and I had to go back later, at 21w5d, to try to get better images of the heart. The stubborn baby was facing my spine both times, which apparently isn't the best for seeing the heart.

I think he did redo most of the measurements really quickly. He updated me on the baby's weight (he'd almost doubled in three weeks!) and measured a few bones, but by far he spent the most time trying to get the heart.

  • I went at 18 weeks to a MFM and they could see all four chambers of the heart, but couldn't get all the measurements they wanted due to the position of the baby.  So they had me come back 22 weeks and they re-checked everything.  I don't know if all Dr.'s are the same with that though.

  • They did my big u/s at 18w4d.  I'm going back in 4 weeks because their hearts weren't big enough to get a really good look.  They'll do a total anatomy scan again, just to track their growth.  Not sure if that's special b/c of the twins or if that's normal.  I know they're keeping a close eye on their size so they know when they run out of room.
  • This just happened to me last week! I had my big u/s at 18 weeks. Everything looked good but they couldn't get the baby to turn to see all the parts of the heart they wanted to. They are having me come back in at 21 weeks. They said they will do a quick scan of everything else again at  but spend most of the time on the heart.
  • I had my first at 17w4d and baby was very uncooperative. So we did it again at 20 and although all she needed was heart, she checked everything again.

    Can't wait to see u/s pics! :)
