she has always been a peanut, but now her dr. is a little concerned. she wants her on pediasure or enfamil next step instead of whole milk, until we reevaluate at her 18mo checkup. i don't get it - the girl is always eating. i think she is just super active. but i still feel like a bad mom who doesn't feed her child enough. ![]()
Re: maddy's 15mo. checkup
i agree. i mean, if she eats a well rounded diet and eats meals and snacks everyday, she may just be little. when Truitt went from the 90% at 9 mos to 75% at a year to 25% at 18 mos, all my dr asked was how he eats and when i told her his diet she said she wasn't worried....
Oh please don't worry too much. I agree iwth the PP -- if she eats a well-rounded diet and she's still just small... maybe she's just supposed to be small.
Mia also dropped quite a bit. She went from 75% to 4% from her 9mo to 22mo (she was sick when we went in...). At 24mo she was back up to 10% and her weight vascillates to be honest.
We're human! We're all different. Embrace her tininess and enjoy being able to still carry her around.
if you haven't heard me rave about avocado before, let me tell you once again: it's one of the only foods out there that a human being could live on with no other nutrition (other than water, of course)
here is the little bookmark that i used to justify avocado as a 1st food to my 1st (useless) pediatrician and still keep to sing the praises of this delightful fruit

Is your doctor non-asian? The only reason why I ask is because it's usually almost a given that asian babies/kids are always smaller than non. All my little cousins are in the 10-25% tile. My aunt is a physcian assistant at a pedi office in Sugar Land and all her kids are little too. And I would think that she's doing everything right for her kids? Emmy is as big as her 3.5yo girl.
But I agree with other posters, try a more high fat diet. Emmy is a big meat eater and loves drumsticks and pork ribs. It's sad when we hide her green beans as "dessert" because we want her to eat the fatty stuff first.
