Multiples

Shortened cervix ?

When I was pregnant with DD, it was fine, no problems.  Are multiples pregnancies more prone?  IS it something else I have to worry about even though it was "long enough" once?

Sorry, today I have been obsessing on the oddest things.

Re: Shortened cervix ?

  • Don't know for sure if multiples makes you more prone. This is my first pregnancy and had to have an emergency cerclage. My cervix was fine when checked around weeks 16-20 and shortened by week 22. You should be monitored frequently.
  • Both my OB and Peri have told me that since I had an uneventful first pregnancy (also a singleton) that I am likely to have an uneventful twin pregnancy.  I was worried it was the opposite and that since my body had already learned what to do (dialate cervix) that it would start early but, they assured me that my medical history suggests that I have less to worry about than if it was my first.  Of course, I still worryWink
