I forgot to ask you what you do the first few nights when the baby wakes and thinks they are hungry and get really upset when mom is not there. Should DH just give her a pacifier? What if she won't go back down? We are going to give this a try.
Yes. At the first peep, have him get to her as fast as he can before she really wakes up. Then pacifier just briefly until she stops sucking at which point I gently twist it out of the mouth to break the seal and not wake them. If they protest, repeat the same process until it takes.
If this doesn't work, have him pick her up and hold/soothe her and then give the paci if she is still upset. Although I've done it before, I try not to leave the paci in his mouth only because it backfires and he cries every time it falls out and I always go back to my original plan.
I hope it works for you. I'll send lots of good sleep vibes your way.
