Nurseries and Baby Gear

furniture color

Sorry if this is something you girls get all the time...

I live in a 2-bedroom condo and the baby's room is in the back, meaning there are 3/4 height walls but no windows. ?We have lamps, obviously, but it's a pretty dark room.

The walls are already light green and I am keeping that, but I am worried that dark furniture will make it look like a cave in there. ?I was going to get white furniture, but family members who used to own a baby furniture store warned me away from white because it marks up so easily. ?Now I'm looking for natural wood and have a few solid options, but I'm not wild about natural.

So my questions are: Anybody have experience with a low-light room? ?If so, what finish did you go with? ?Were you happy with the result? ?Does anybody have a favorite natural or light finish set they would suggest? ?Am I being a crazy person? ?I am planning on using this set for all my kids, so convertible is optional.?

Re: furniture color

  • I would go with what you want!  If it is white...so be it!  If the room is darker you might not see the marks as much. Plus Mr.Clean eraser sponges can do wonders!!

  • Ditto the magic eraser, it is amazing! I haven't found any kid evidence that it can't take care of yet (She hasn't started into coloring yet)?

We did have a darker space (which is great for baby's nap and bed time!) and went with mostly white. We couldn't be happier.?
