My MIL saw an ad in the newspaper for a Penn State Hershey Med research study. I called about it but do not qualify b/c I'm delivering at Carlisle and they aren't participating at this time.
You need to be between 18-35 years old, pregnant with your first baby, and I'm not sure what other qualifications there are since I didn't get very far into the conversation before we realized that I wasn't elligible.
If you participated you would have a 25 minute phone interview before giving birth, and a 15-20 min phone interview every 6 months after wards for 3 years. Info from your hospital records about delivery and baby's weight, etc is obtained. Compensation is provided but I have no idea what it is.
The lady I spoke with was as sweet as can be. I thought I'd pass the info on here in case anyone is interested. I know that my work gets grants to start programs and we need to track some client's info to see if the program had continued success or not. It's tough to get participants sometimes but the information is so helpful in developing new programs, etc. I don't know anything more about this study but if you're interested call 866-254-4287 or email Diana Velott at dvelott@psu.edu.
Re: First Baby Study
I'm enrolled, too. Only other requirement is that you're married.
Just cashed our first $100 check this past week!
Edit: I think I'm in a different study, as we did a two-hour in-home interview in the first trimester, then we'll have another at 9 mos and 2 years after the baby's birth. The research is on Hershey's childbirth classes.
Hmm, the lady knew I was past 36 wks so maybe that's been adjusted?
TTC since Jan 07. Dx with PCOS Jan 08
I contacted her and Holy Spirit isn't participating yet but she's going to let me know if that changes. FYI
Edit: These are the current participating hospitals: Hershey, Harrisburg, York, Reading, Lancaster, Mount Nittany, and Lehigh Valley.
Just wrote her an email about the requirements.
Thanks for the heads up!
