It's going well! I am trying to be both firmer with her, but also more patient & not snap (difficult for me because she is a handful). I am SO proud of myself for Days 1 & 2, they went really well. I am hoping by Day 11 she will be ready for our girls trip to Portland. Well, her AND I.
Re: Day 3 of Operation Abigail
ok--you've got some 'splaining to do!!!?
what's up??
?
yes!!! ?
Here's the basics:
1. I'm ignoring any whining or pointless crying. Instead of asking her what's wrong or trying to fix it, I'm flat out ignoring it. Which is difficult because you know Abby, she'll give it a good go.
2. I am not letting her win any stand-offs. Example: last night her plate of dinner was ready, I offered it to her & she was excited. So I said 'sit in your chair then'. Didn't want to get in the booster seat. So we had a stand-off about not getting the plate of dinner till she got in the seat. Took a few attempts but I won. And I have to win all these without losing patience.
3. Praising her a lot when she IS good.
4. Not snapping or yelling, sticking to calmly explaining things to her.
Can't think of anything else right now, but this is it in general. And for 2 days, it is working!!
