OMG seriously I could cry I am so happy right now. Granted it is one night but they did not wake up once ( that we heard!) from 6:30 pm till 7am!!!!!!!!!
I am crossing my fingers that we are on the right track and we are going to continue the CIO method that we started.
Re: THEY STTN!!!!!! Day 3!
That's fantastic news!!! Hope they keep it up!
I stole bits and pieces from everyones ideas the other day...
We have always had the same bedtime everynight and they go down pretty easily at night but the issue was getting up in the middle of the night when we knew they did not need to eat but wanted to play!
So we are now letting them CIO at night. when they first start to cry I am giving them 5 minutes and then if they don't calm down I go in and turn on the mobile, tell them I love them and that it is bedtime and then shut the door. For us we cannot go back in (unless they sound like they have hurt themselves ect.) because it just pushes them over the edge.
I will tell you it is HARD. Both boys cried for over 45 minutes each the first night and yesterday was a bit better and last night was fantastic! I paced the room but stood my ground and did not go in. I know they eat enough during the day but they were playing me big time and knew how to feed off my emotions.
BTW I do this at naptime also...Into the cribs and they are not allowed out unil they have been in for at least an hour. Naps are also at the same time every day.
Thanks... We've been really consistant with their bedtime and wakeup time but we haven't gone full out CIO yet. I'm nervous I won't be able to handle it. We're also trying to break them of their "snacking" in the middle of the night but so far all we've done is go in there, give them a "little" bit of milk to soothe and then put them right back to bed (unless they need a diaper change).
We might have to do CIO soon because we're so sleep deprived. The only thing is naps. My inlaws watch my kids 4 days a week and I'm almost certain that my MIL won't let them CIO or keep them to a strict schedule. She thinks it's just the way they are when they take 30-45 minute catnaps during the day.
You were in the "exact" same situation we were in before we started the full blown cio experience. The babes are ready...you just need to be and from your post below I think you have reached that point
As far as the naps are concerned we are now following this routine and write it down and give it to your inlaws and be firm about it. Tell them they don't have to deal with it at night you do and this will help with the nighttime training! We are doing the if they wake up at 7am they go for a nap at 9am and then they go for another nap at 1pm and then we start bedtime routine around 5:30 so unless they are super tired I have not been putting them down for a third nap.
Be firm! Keep us updated. BTW are you home today with them? If you are try the routine and see how it works and then tomorrow do the same thing and I bet by day 3 or 4 you will see a difference.
Thanks! I know my DH would love for me to give him the OK to CIO. I'm not home with them today. We might have to do start it this weekend. We'll see. I know that once we start we can't stop and we have to be consistant.
How to tell my boys apart
The different types of twins and triplets
Jack, Sydney and Carynne, Annaleigh, JW, Eden...forever in our hearts.
My blog * We made the national news!
it took us three different times to start the whole CIO way and I wish I had stuck to my guns three months ago when we first started
as you said consistancy is the key. if you go in and pick them up once you might as well start right back over.
good luck and hang tight!!! lemme know what happens this weekend!
I am so jealous, guess I need to suck it up and try the CIO too.
I did try the leave them in the crib for an hour. I made it to 30 minutes and I went in and E had his legs stuck in the crib slats. I felt awful that he was hurting and I just let him cry. If he see's me it gets worse though so I will have to find a way to sneak a peak while he is crying. Guess we will have to start this weekend.
That is so exciting!!! I am so happy for you.
You are really going to enjoy this 'new-found' freedom and they are going to benefit from the sleep.
Go night #4. Don't get discouraged if they regress a little; it's working-keep going the course. You're doing great.
