Houston Babies

Moving to Houston...

Hello ladies...

We got word this week that it looks like we are moving to Houston. I wanted to drop by the local board and see if you had any moving tips for us?

My parents live in the area and have been there for 2 years, so we have a general sense of where we want to live, but we are just getting started with the process. He will be working downtown, so I think we will want to live within a 30 minute drive.?

I will also most likely be looking for an RE for IVF, so any recs you have there would also be?appreciated. ?

Oh and I need a job! So any local job board suggestions are helpful too. ?

Re: Moving to Houston...

  • Welcome in advance! Your screenname seems familiar. Perhaps from the TTTC board? I can't remember...

Dr. Cecilia Valdes at Fertility Specialists of Houston is great. The office is affliated with one of the premier OB/GYN practices in Houston (and Texas, really), and directly next door to Texas Woman's Hospital.

I don't know anything about local jobs, sorry. But we do have a local non-baby Nest board that is very active. Everyone is always willing to help a Houston newbie!

Also, har.com is a great resource for getting familiar with Houston area real estate.

Let us know if you have any other questions! And again, welcome! :)

  • welcome..  We used Dr. Cecilia Valdes, but I don't think I would pick her for IVF..  Dr. Hickman has some of the highest success rates in the country.  I hear he also has some of the highest prices :(

HAR.com is great.  I'm a Realtor if you have any questions.  30 min will give you a lot of options..

Jobs, depends on what you are looking for.  Try posting on our local board...

  • I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Roach.  She is great!

As far as houses, we are selling our's in Kingwood.  ;)  Dr. Roach even has a Kingwood office!

  • Thanks ladies! I will try the local board when we know more!?
