wheezing??

DS has been wheezing the past few nights. He coughed alot during the night one night, and has been crying more in his sleep. No other symptoms (no temp, and he's fine during the day - eating, playing, etc). We had just started back with the vaporizer last night. WWYD? Pediatrician? We have an appt next week (Tues) already, so I'm not sure its worth a call. I WAS going to to some Vicks, but then heard not to on the news yesterday....

Re: wheezing??

  • If you have a minute see my responses about Vicks to the PSA post below about that article. In a nutshell my pedi says it's fine on the feet. We use it when my son has a cold.

If he sounds like he's wheezing I'd take him to the pedi regardless if he otherwise seems fine. My ds had some wheezing at around 9.5 months but seemed okay and he ended up having a wimpy form of pneumonia and had to take an antibiotic and within 24 hours the wheezing stopped. I'd just take him to be on the safe side. It could be nothing. Good luck!

  • I'd definately take him to the pedi. We took DD to the pedi because of a cough and they pedi heard wheezing. They ended up prescribing albeuterol (sp). which is used for asthma in a nebulizer. After a few days of treatments it cleared her up really well.
