Does any one ovulate too early for clomid?

I have taken clomid once.  For the last 3 cycles since that they tell me I either already ovulated or am about to ovulate so I can't take it.

Does anyone ovulate too early to take clomid or does anyone ovulate early and take it.  I usually ovulate cd 10-12 like clockwork.

  • I'm confused. So they knew at your baseline on cd3 that you were either about to ovulate or you just did? Are they doing bloodwork and ultrasound cd3? What specfically is it showing them?

Most people should be ok taking clomid cd3-7. Some girls take it cd5-9 which sounds like it could be too late for you. But I don't really get whats going on early in your cycle.

  • For the last 2 months I went in aroun cd 3-5 and had U/S and Bloodwork and by my blood work they can tell I'm going to ovulate early becasue my Prog and estrogen are starting to rise they said it needs to be a certain number  in order for it to work correctly.  The first month i took it I didn't go in early I just went on Cd 10 and I had already ovulated. The said the clomid made me ovulate ever earlier than normal.

  • I have never heard of being able to predict ovulation that way, but I have limited experience in that regard.

I tended to ovulate around CD12-15 before Clomid, and the earliest I ovulated was CD12. I did go in for CD12 u/s once, was told to trigger for a post-coital, and came back 2 days later to find I had already ovulated before the trigger.

Can't they just push up your u/s date to earlier in your cycle? That was what my RE was going to do. She was going to see me CD10 instead of CD12.

  • I ovulated early on Clomid. I had been instructed to take it cd3-7 and begin OPKs on cd11. I started OPKs on cd8 when I noticed a lot of EWCM. Sure enough....+ OPK! They did my b.w which confirmed. Each time I was on Clomid, I would ovulate on cd9. The NP said when a person ovulates this early, the endometrial lining may be too thin to sustain a pg since it did not have enough time to thicken. They checked my lining just to make sure. Ultimately I stopped Clomid b/c it caused cysts....completely unrelated to ovulating early. HTH!
  • I usually get a positive OPK on day 10 or 11, leading me to believe I typically ovulate (and most often I feel it) on day 11 or 12. ?I took Clomid my first cycle for CD 3-7, went in on day 12, but my cycle was cancelled due to a high response. ?The RE didn't say anything about possibly ovulating early. ?

For this upcoming cycle, we're doing Clomid again (just 50mg, not 100). ?I'm going to take it CD 3-7, but go in on day 9 to make sure that we've got some good recruits. ?That will give me time to take some FSH, if necessary. ?My RE has never said anything about ovulating early, he actually told me that he always has his patients do a trigger with Clomid to ensure that they ovulate, rather than run the risk of developing cysts. ??
