I'm sure it could be short for a few different names. I can see it as a nickname for Aurora.
Also, I didn't watch it enough to know for sure, but I always assumed that on the show Gilmore Girls, the mother, Loralie, named her daughter, Rory, after herself and just used Rory as a nickname. I could be totally off-base there, but even if it's not true, I think that could work!

This is true, but it was Lorelai.
And I like the name Aurora, it's very different and pretty.
I know a boy named Rory (aged 10). I think it can be a very cute name; however, as a speech-language pathologist I could never give it to a child b/c it is pretty difficult to say. People confuse it with "Roy", too. Just things to think about.

Good luck!
Hey could you give me an opinion on "Juliet?" I love that name but if I have another baby in the next year or so, I'm afraid my daughter wouldn't be able to pronounce it and the baby would end up with some awful nickname like "yu-yu" or something.

I think Juliet is very cute...I'm worried more about the child being able to say his/her own name once they're school-aged. I think if your daughter had a silly, little nn for Juliet, it would be a little bit precious! Seriously, Rory is the one name I've had concerns with pronounciation (and that is simply b/c i've seen it in real-life be a difficulty). Juliet would most likely turn into "Duliet" or "Duey-ette"...something around those lines. Good luck! Very cute name

It sounds like a lot less of an issue when you say it.
I know someone who has had the name "Bebe" her whole life because her brother couldn't pronounce her long name and called her "baby" which sounded like "bebe" when he said it. I live in fear of putting a future child in that situation lol
