I am totally out of ideas. F will not nap in her crib. She will nap everywhere else, on me, in her swing, on her bouncer, even on a blanket on the floor...just not her crib.
I have tried putting her in awake, and she cries unless her mobile is on and once that is done, the crying starts again. I have tried putting her in asleep, which gets about 15 to 30 minutes, then she starts crying.
Any advice? She sleeps 9 hours at night and goes to sleep with no issue, no fussing or anything.
Re: Nap help
If I remember right, I don't think Natalie was doing all her sleeping in her crib until 3ish months. She was a big time swing sleeper. It was like one day she just realized that the crib was meant for sleeping, and there was no reason to be scared of it or refuse to sleep there.
That's probably not what you want to hear though. I wish I had a magic solution
For Sam, I actually took the bouncy seat and put it in the crib a few times. That seemed to make the transition easier.
But if it doesn't work, I wouldn't be too concerned at this point. As long as she's sleeping well for descent stretches of time, that's the important thing.

What about her bassinet? I am trying to remember where Avery napped - I think mostly in her crib, but some in the bouncy seat and sometimes just on a pallet on the floor.
ETA: I think if she is sleeping fine in her crib, it isn't too bad that she won't nap in there. Are you swaddling?

I am swaddling at night, but not for naps. Maybe I will try that.

It is such a fuzzy memory, but I think we may have started swaddling for naps, but then daycare wouldn't swaddle her...it seems like so long ago.

I am of no help when it comes to sleep issues! NONE.
which is why #2 will probably never even be held! ;-D
good luck with the swaddling.
At this age, it takes them about 30 minutes to get into a good sleep - they transition from REM to non-REM sleep at about 20 to 40 minutes. The REM sleep they are easily able to waken from, non-REM they get the good, deep sleep. When she's on you, the swing or the bouncy, she probably stays asleep longer because you're able to help her through that transition stage. You may see she's fussing a bit or dropped or paci and you can replug her or shush her or give her an extra bounce or swing. When you put her in her crib, unless you sit right by her, it may be that she's waking up herself when she goes through this transition.
That's what we were finding out with Marion. So we stopped just putting her in bed to sleep - or, if she's in bed, we're co-napping with her (or nesting or reading.) Once we get past that 30 minutes stage, she's good to be left on her own for the next hour or so (we check on her about every 30 minutes though, just to make sure she's not tray nsitioning at those times.)
Maybe check that with F - see if she's moving from one sleep state to the next. She's probably sleeping better at night than at naptimarkme becuase you have a night routine with her and she knows that the routine means long periods of sleep. Even thouth M fusses at that 30 minute mark at night, she self soothes (most of the time) because night time sleep is different than nap time sleep. Once we get on a better, more predictable nap time routine, we're going to work on a routine for naps like we have for bed so we don't necessarily need to sit with her for a while (although I do like the naps I get doing it!)she ounds sle
Since we've started doing this, she naps twice a day, anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours. I found the dr sears sleep book to be a really good one for explaining the science of how and why they sleep the way they do.

Swaddling seems to be the key! Why didn't I think of this sooner??!!?!
She has been down for 30 minutes and is out. Woohoo!
Now, I miss having her around...vicious circle~

Ha - I spoke way too soon. As soon as Rockabye NIN was over, she was up. Then, she got some sleep in the bouncer. We will go shopping and on a walk this afternoon, so sh will sleep in her carrier.
I give up!

oh man, I'm sorry. I don't have a lot of advice, sorry. Mia didn't nap or sleep anywhere until about 3.5 months.
Hang in there. I'm sure she'll get it soon!
Just paranoia from reading books that say bouncer/swing/carrier sleeping is bad...
So Tasty, So Yummy
I guess I never read those books.....hee hee!
But seriously, I see nothing wrong with letting her sleep where she's most content. Her GETTING sleep is more important than WHERE she sleeps, ya know?
Gosh....this post brings back some fond memories of that newborn period. I miss my newborn!
dd is still like this at nearly 6 months. she's turned into a cat napper during the day, and wakes up almost immediately.
we've put her in her bouncer or swing in her room and she's been ok with that. we also learned to make her room as dark as possible during the day. have you tried that?
