Even better, our 2nd choice replied with an offer of babysitting services if we need her.

It was such a huge decision and we ended up with three people who I thought would be fantastic.  It was a rocky start, but we had a great ending,

sounds like the days on end of interviewing paid off...  We are always on the look out for a good sitter and p/t nanny when the baby comes if your second choice has some availablity and you want to share...

It is a huge range.  We actually had two we interviewed who wanted $6 to 7/hr.  Some were over $15.  It is totally varied.  We ended up paying a salary so she gets paid holiday and vacay.  She gets overtime if she works nights/weekends/Friday.
