my son is 1 month old and I have been pumping since his birth....but I feel like my milk supply is getting less and less....anything I can do to increase my milk supply
I've heard that some powerpumping sessions might work. How have you been eating? That is very important. Are you getting enough protein? I drink Mother's milk every now and then. Also be sure to nurse on demand. The nursing will help increase the supply more than the pumping.
Our lactation consultant recommended several different things over the time I had problems with my supply:
Power pumping every 2 hrs round the clock (for one to two days). Remembering to drink all of my water. Taking Fenugreek. Keeping pics of DD with me when I couldn't be at her side at the hospital. Drinking Mother's Milk Tea. Eating 1 - 2 bowls of (non instant) oatmeal a day. I also tried a lactation tincture but I can't remember the name of it. Spending a smuch time skin to skin with my DD as possible.
I think problems with supply are really common for Mom's of preemies, but there is a lot of hope for improvement. Try suggestions on www.kellymom.com too. (I may have gotten the link wrong ... kelleymom?).
