Being effaced is a better indicator than dilated on how soon the baby will come. You can be 3cm dilated for example, for 3 weeks but, doesn't mean baby is ready to come out. If you're 100% effaced, get ready because baby is on the way!
got it, thanks! I'm hoping for another 25% effacement move this week haha. I went from 50-75% in a week, so I figured if I keep going at that rate...I'll go into labor by Friday

And I thought it was the other way around... what do I know?

Yea, but won't you be happy if your doc says your 95-100% effaced today now?

Yes,with my first baby I was 3cm dilated and "thought" I was having contractions. I saw my dr. and she said even though I was 3cm dilated, I was only 80%effaced. I needed to be 100% effaced. Plus, she said "you'll know when you're having contractions". Boy, was she right. Now when my second baby comes in March, I'll definitely know this time around!
yesterday I was 80% effaced and hoping to move on up rather soon! Doctor did give me the speech on when to call her...etc, so that is giving me high hopes!
