introducing solids = diaper rash?

Anyone else have this experience?  We have been battling a diaper rash for about the past two weeks.  Now looking back on it, it seems that the rash pretty much started when we started her on solid foods.  It has seemed to come and go - would get a little better again, then start to flare up again.  I never really connected it to the solids before, but now I'm wondering if that's what it could be.  We had a really busy day today with a lot of running around, and because she fell asleep in the car and her naptimes were all screwy, we didn't get around to any solid feeding at all yet today.  Well, when she woke up from her PM nap and I changed her, it seems that the diaper rash is pretty much gone.  Maybe it's just coincidence, but it seems weird that the day that she has only BM, the rash seemed to just clear up on its own.  Maybe it couldn't even happen that fast, but it just seems strange to me

Any thoughts?  Anyone have a similar experience?

Re: introducing solids = diaper rash?

  • DD had diaper rash and diarreah when we started rice cereal, even though its supposed to be constipating.  Stop the solids for a couple of days, and then reintroduce them.

  • yes that can happen. dd had a mild one when i started solids. i think more because her skin isn't used to difference of what she is ingesting, kwim?  have you tried a different brand diaper rash cream?  that might help if it comes back...
