Houston Babies

Someone talk me down............

I want to get a new MacLaren Volo stroller.  Not because we need one, because I just want one.

Right now we have a Peg Perego Aria that I LOATHE and a cheapo, no-name umbrella stroller that we got for our cruise last summer.  But whenever we go places like the mall or the zoo, I get jealous of other moms who have nice stroller for their toddlers (call it keeping up with the joneses, I guess).

BRU is having free shipping today and I'm *this* close to ordering one but I know DH will ask me why I bought it when we already have one that works just fine.

Should I pamper Maddie (and me and technically future kids) and get a new MacLaren?  Or should I hold off and get a nicer MacLaren when we have another baby?

  • Okay, I can't tell you not to buy it, BUT I do urge you to price check it on Amazon.com.  They usually have much lower prices, free shipping, and no sales tax.  Good luck!

  • I am no help.  I just ordered another diaper bag that I absolutely do.not.need!!!  But whatever.  I say go for it, especially if you'll be using it with kiddo #2 Big Smile

  • Someone posted on Mom's Corner today that Target has a discontinued Volo color in-store for $30! I'm sure they're hard to find and will go fast, but if you have a Target nearby, it might be worth a shot to check...

  • ...and you can probably sell your Peg on Craigs List...

  • I have to tell you that we love our Volo and I'm very happy we bought it.  I also saw the Mom's Corner post about the $30 Volo at Target.  I've never seen any Volos at a Target near me; I looked at Target.com and saw one for $99.99.

V had a good point about selling your Peg Perego on Craig's List.

  • If you hate what you currently have, you should totally get something you like better and sell the old one.
  • My resolution this year is to spend less money on things I don't "need".  So I'll go against everyone and say NO!  You should wait for #2 and then get it.  your daughter is getting older and so in less than a year, she'll be walking most of the time (even if it's at the zoo).

Now, if you would have asked me on Dec 31st, I would have said...TOTALLY go for it if it's a deal!!! =)

DH and I have not been directly affected (other then our retirement accts which we won't even withdraw until over 30 years from now) from the whole recession, but we have decided that this year, we're going to make wiser choices and build a bigger cushion and emergency fund.  You just never know.....
