pepsi and migraines?

i wake up with a migraine pretty much every day, went from throwing up to dizziness and migraines! woohoooo!

one of my nurses said to drink pepsi. but is it really safe for me to drink a bottle every single time i get one? i mean i know baby isn't going to grow 2 heads, lol, but i hate to keep drinking it if there is another option. and tylenol does NOTHING.

i know the whole lying down in the dark and everything, but then who goes to work for me? lol

you girls do anything else for them?

Re: pepsi and migraines?

  • Excedrin tension headache works best for me. (its aspirin-free)

Also, try and get the baby cans of coke or pepsi (4 or 6oz) that way you're not drinking a whole bottle but you're still getting just enough caffeine to kick the headache. (and the little cans are only 100 calories)

  • Did you use to drink a lot of caffeine?

I drank cuban coffee every single day (think shot of espresso, but stronger with loads of sugar).  So getting off of that gave me huge headaches.  A drink of pepsi/coke really helped when tylenol wasn't working.  I usually would have less than 8 oz though (don't think you need a whole bottle!).

Sometimes, also, pulling my hair back into a pony tail and wetting my face/neck with cold water really helped.

  • Tylonol doesn't alleviate ANY pain I have, so I treat myself to some caffeine whenever I get a headache....but I don't get them every day.  But like things I've read and researched say, one soda per day isn't enough to do any harm.  It only becomes a problem if you're downing like 3-4+ caffeinated drinks per day.
  • It's the caffeine in the Pepsi that will help your headaches.  Your baby will be fine.

I use a cold compress while lying down in a dark room.  It helps.

  • I would say a can would do it an I allow myself one can of coke or pepsi a day. Caffeine helps with headaches - caffeine is in a lot of pain relievers so it may be worth a try for you(works for me). Drink it as soon as you feel the headache coming on though - don't wait until it is really bad. Also, make sure you stay hydrated as dehydration can contribute to headaches...
