Does the smell of cigarettes make you nauseous?

I HATE the smell of cigarette smoke right now- normally this would not be a problem, as no one in my family smokes (except my brother who lives far away and never smokes on the way to my house b/c he knows it bothers me). However, I have a TON of students who REEK of smoke! It's so sad and I know they can't help it, but I can't stand or sit near them! Blegh!

Anyone else having this problem?

  • Cigarette smoke bothered me before PG, it's even worse now.

  • Yeah pretty sure it always has.
  • oh yeah....I always thought it stunk but my one coworker will go out for a smokebreak and I swear she stinks up the whole office for at least 15 minutes after she comes back in. I used to smoke back in my college years, and it horrifies me to think I smelled like that....

  • Yes, many of my coworkers smoke and always come into talk to me after they have their break. I just want to push them out of my office. Sad
  • The guys in the warehouse smoke and when they walk past my office I have to get up and walk outside for a minute.  It's a such a horrific smell.  I never even noticed it before I was pg.
  • YES! my mom smokes and everytime she is in close range i want to throw up. I love her and it never bothered me until about two weeks ago. ugh!Ick!

  • I never minded it before, but now I can't stand it. My husband doesn't smoke regularly but about once a month he'll have a bad day at work and have one. I have to make him go shower before we go to bed otherwise I am just so nauseous.

  • i was always sensitive to cig smoke- wasn't brought up around it and most of my friends and dh do not smoke- my FIL does (chain smokes)- and for the holidays it was intensified (i get headaches on a normal day)- my nose was literally burning and i just wanted to leave the entire time i was there :/

not good for pregnancy/baby and our bodies are telling us to not be around smokers

  • Most definately.  I used to smoke for years but quit 3 years ago.  Now the smell of cigarettes makes me sick to my stomach.  I got stuck sitting next to a girl who WREAKED of cigarettes on the train to work at 6:30am!!!  Didn't think I would make it the 1 hour and 5 minute ride!
  • Yeah it never bugged me before and now its awful. I went to the casino with the cousins and I could barely stand it. Everytime someone would lite up next to me it would make me gag.
  • I always hated the smell but it makes me so sick now.  I live in a townhouse and the woman next to me smokes.  The smell is faint but I smell it immediately when she smokes and I have to cover my mouth and nose, immediately it makes me feel like throwing up.  Maybe that means my child hates cigs and won't start smoking. ;0)

  • Yep, I work in downtown chicago and everyone smokes outside their office buildings and walking past them on my way to work is the worst, it makes me so sick. Which is funny cause DH smokes (never in the house, outside on the porch) and the residue smell on him never bothered me before but now unless he washes his hands I don't want him near me!
