My MIL is VERY talented at making homemade knits. SHe had made 2 darling cupcake hats for Audrey after sending her the picture that was going around here awhile back. She also makes beautiful blankets, shawls etc..... I was telling her tonight about Etsy and how she should sell them.
I think she got pretty excited and as going to check it out. SHe has TONS of remenant yarn right now and a baby/toddler hat takes hardly anything and is super quick for her to whip up. Both her and FIL are recently retired and could really use any extra income too.
I'm assumming I (or someone in the family) would have to help her set it up, and make cards for her, a logo etc....., but I think she'd LOVE it, so if anyone could tell me the information on it that would be great! (I was thinking Nana's kNits as a name) ![]()
Is it free to sell? Or what does it cost? Easy to set up a site? Etc.... any info would be great! TIA
Re: I need the 411 on Etsy
No each listing costs .20
Most people like to pay through "Paypal" and they will fee you too...
3% I think...and another flat fee (can't remember, sorry!!)
Very easy to set up a page...
As long as "Nana's Knits" is not already taken, it's hers!!
Any other specific questions ask away!!
Nana's knits already exists...

Sorry.
One thing she might want to wait out is to find out how this new law is going to affect the sale of kids stuff.
Sort of related - definitely have her get started on building an inventory before starting the site.
When pricing items, just make sure you account for the $0.20 per and the PayPal fee. ?So if something was going to be $10, make it $10.50 or $11 so those costs are covered. ?Then you can assign shipping costs to each item separate from the cost of the item.
It's actually a pretty easy and intuitive site to use.?
