Need help

Any suggestions on weaning from a binkie.  CJ use to have it at naptime and bedtime, but since the baby came, he has it more often now.  Any advice would be great!

Re: Need help

  • Ohhh no real help here since we opted for the cold turkey method.

I saw the supernanny do a "binkie ceremony" where the child put his binkie's in an envelope and mailed them to "children around the world that needed binkies" It worked like a charm.

    That biotch is brilliant.

  • My cousin tried the send the binkies to kids in need thing.  I don't know if he got it from supernanny or what, but It worked for him.

  • On J&K+8, the 'tups had a new cousin, so they said that they had to give their binkies to the new baby b/c they are not babies anymore and the new baby needs their paci's.  Each kid put their paci's in a bag and gave them to the baby.  Maybe you can say C has to give his to his new brother since he's the big boy now and only babies need binkies?  Good luck with it, b/c my boys are still paci-addicted and we are trying to figure out how to get rid of it too.
  • A friend of mine did the ceremony too, except they tied it to some helium balloons and sent it off that way.  Good luck!
  • I usually recommend cutting them.  Literally cutting them up the middle.  When he puts it in his mouth he won't be able to suck on it and will want a new one.  You have to tell him it's broken and there aren't any new ones.  Cut them all, throw them out so that you aren't tempted and neither is he.

I just had a family do this and they were binkie free in 2 days. :)

The other thing is to strictly limit it to the bed.  He can't take it out of the bed at all.  My best friend does that with her son, but she is looking to get rid of it all together.

My advice is to just go for it ... you'll have a rough couple of days but seriously your anxiety over it is worse than actually doing it.
