DS threw up on our dark blue ottoman last night. I tried getting it out with dawn and hot water but now there is a large ring and a stain. Is there anything I can do to get it out?
AND...the couch....
Is it ok to put my couch cushion covers in the washer and dryer on delicate and low heat? Would this be a bad idea or not?
I posted this on the cleaning board but it is always very slow!
Re: RP: Vomit on couch and ottoman...help!
Check the tag on your couch and ottoman for cleaning information. Sometimes using even water can make a bigger stain (could be wha happened with the ottoman??...hope not!). One of our couches is safe for water and mild detergeant (like Resolve or another carpet/fabric cleaner), the other you have to use a cleaning solvent on it or dry clean. I definitely would not wash the covers unless the tag says it is washer safe. But you could take off the cover to the couch cushion and take it to the dry cleaners possibly.
Usuallly the tag can be found under the cushions hooked on to the couch seat itself. Good luck! Vomit is tough-DD puked red gatorade on our cream carpet, but we got it out with Resolve.
We have a cleaning solution that same with ours. Sorry. We use that and resolve. DH says I need to get fabresebecause we associate the smells of the cleaner with vomit now.
we had a similar problem. We used some vinegar diluted with water....it really helped with the smell.
Good luck.
For the smell, I'd recommend an enzyme pet cleaner (in the pet aisle). Milk spilled in our car and the smell was awful, and this stuff worked like a charm.
Check under your sofa and there should be a care tag. DD drooled all over our sofa (microsuede) so there were water spots everywhere. The tag it was safe to use a carpet cleaner on it, so we rented a carpet cleaner with the upholstery attachment and cleaner, and it looks like new!
