Anybody have any information on Aflac's short term disability insurance and pregnancy. ?I have had it since August and I am due May so I think Iwill be able to use it (10 months). ?Just curious as to what it will offer me. THANKS!
pregnancy is not a disability aflac is only if your injured and can't work, they don't even offer short term disability you may be able to get it through your employer. Short term disability only kick is maybe 30 to 90 days after the injury.
Aflac does cover maternity leave. When I spoke with HR about it, they said Aflac would cover the first 6wks after the birth (8 for C-Sections). This was about 3 months ago so I don't remember exactly what costs they covered.
Under Aflac maternity ?is considered short term disability. ?Was just wondering how much time they offered and what % paid. ?I will call Monday...was just curious and didn't really want to have to wait THANKS!

The percentage is based on what you paid into it. I have mine set up so that I will receive 90% of what I would make if I was working. And as far as the conversation I had with my Aflac agent, I believe I can be off for up to 6 months with my STD coverage (pregnacy IS covered).
My Alfac will pay me twice a month..I am not sure the exact % but its like 400 less a month than I would've been making..any bit helps! I know they say they hold back a week for whatever reason.

Pregnancy is considered a disability for short-term disability. It is covered like any other "disability". Typically it will kick in after 2 weeks and it will pay you a certian percentage of your salary up to a max. It depends on how you set-up your policy, but what I described is fairly common. Also, you have to have the policy in place 2 months before you become pregnant.
