The name ELI?

What do you think when you hear this name for a boy?  My DH and I really like this name for a boy.  The most common reaction we have gotton is that it is a very jewish name, which doesn't really matter, except that DH and I are very Irish.  (Our kids might have red hair like me). Just thought I'd get your opinion.  Thanks

I love it, that is the name I wanted but by husband liked Rhyder better.

I like it personally.  My nephew's name is Elye.  The spelling is NMS but the sound of the name I like.

I don't automatically think Hebrew, but I do think Bible. I LOVE the name Elijah, but DH was a no-go on it. I've known quite a few Eli's who were white, brown, etc. I'm not a big believer in naming a kid based on ethnic background. If you love the name, that's all that matters.

I love the name Eli and i dont think it really matters. (plus, the one kid i knew growing up named Eli had the reddest Irish hair/ white skin I have ever seen!)

i like eli and i thought about naming our boy elijah.  for me, i associate it with a gay guy but that's just because of a guy i know.

We considered "Ely" (wanted the alternate spelling for a very nerdy reason I won't explain) - and I don't know many Jewish people so that isn't an issue for us.  I love the name.

A lot of the popular names seem Hebrew to me.  But I like Eli and my BFF's oldest boy is Elijah, and they call him Eli or "E."

If you like it, go for it.  Either Eli or Elijah or some other longer name you can shorten like Elias.  Peronsally, I like Elijah better than Elias, but that just me.

Normally I like it but considering the NY Giants are curently playing our Philadelphia Eagles, it's not my fave name at the moment

That will be our son's nickname!  So we like it.  My DH's family is Jewish, though that didn't have much to do with us picking Elijah.  My whole family has red hair, so I'm hoping no one bats an eye ;-)
