any suggestions?

Starting last night, Natalie developed this cough that sounds like there is flem in her throat...it is not consistant, but most noticeable after she has milk or any other type of dairy.  Today her nose starting running but is clear...we have been running her humidifier with vicks in it and put vicks on her chest/neck area tonight but I am nervous that her sitter will send her home monday...any suggestions of things I can give her to help speed recovery or what it could be? thanks ladies!

Re: any suggestions?

  • Aw..poor thing.  I dont know that there is much you can do, but I would decrease her dairy intake for the next few days because that does increase  mucous which causes congestion.

    Good luck.

  • Susanna's had some sort of virus for about a week and a half now...with a phlegmy cough that won't go away.  I don't really have any suggestions, except to confirm that it's going around. I think she got it from my niece and it lasted two weeks for her too.

  • You could get your bathroom all steamy and sit with her in the steam. ?that is supposed to help clear it up. ?I've done that with Eli several times. ?Helps a bit!
  • I've tried everything that previous posters have suggested.  Especially the steamy bathroom.  Our doctor said 15 minutes in there.  I could hardly stand to sit in there with her, but it did help.  We also have her mattress slightly elevated, that's supposed to help with drainage as well.  And definitely decrease the milk intake... I can't drink milk at all when I have a cold (though I know some people it doesn't bother), it makes it 10 times worse for me!
