I have been really craving spaghetti and meatballs so I looked up a bunch of meatball receipes. Most of the basic ones call for bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, and an egg. About half call for milk?? The milk is what really scares me. For those of you that make meatballs, do you add milk or not? Half of the recipes call for it, and half don't so I am inclined to leave it out. TIA!
Re: NBR: How to make meatballs?
There's no milk in the recipe I use...2 # ground beef, 1 cup breadcrumbs, 3 eggs, 1 package lipton onion soup mix (dry)....note - this recipe makes a lot (I use it for a "Crazy Meatball" appetizer) you could easily 1/2 it for a family dinner and add it to your choice of sauce.
GL!
no milk for our meatballs here
ground beef
1 cup bread crumbs or I prefer adding multi grain bread (2 slices)
fresh garlic clove minced
carmelize onions then chopped up before mixing with meat
tbsp of ketchup or tomato paste works best
dash of oregano, salt, pepper
dash of worchestshire sauce (sp?)
mix, roll into balls, drop in olive oil coated frying pan until they start to brown a bit
add into pot, I prefer crock pot with your favorite sauce
I like to use 1/2 vodka sauce and 1/2 portabella mushroom sauce
I don't have a specific recipe. I usually make mine up, but I don't uses milk. Just ground beef, parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, oregano and bread crumbs.
my recipe is pretty simple and I eye the ingredients.
NO MILK!
Chopped meat
breadcrumbs
1 or 2 eggs
salt, pepper, oregano, basil, garlic (fresh, finely chopped is best)
mix together, make them into balls and then broil them on a broiling pan in the oven until brown. Add to sauce on stovetop.
