How do you clean toys?

I bought a couple toys from a local consignment shop. They're pretty clean but I want to give them a good wipe down anyways. Do I use a cleaner? Just water? They are battery operated toys so I can't spray them down.

Re: How do you clean toys?

  • I am not so good about cleaning toys, but when I do i spray white vinegar/water mixture on a paper towel and clean then with that.  I heart white vinegar, I use it for a lot of cleaning.

  • You can use baking soda mixed with warm water or plain white vinegar mixed with water

  • You could spray the cleaner on the paper towel.  I don''t think just water will get the germs off.

I use Seventh Generation all purpose cleaner because it's all natural and non-toxic.  Ben puts everything in his mouth, so I don't use stuff that has chemicals on his toys.

  • Ok, I'm the bad mom here.  I use Clorox wipes.  :)

  • Initially I would probably use that hard surface disinfectant spray from Lysol, then use the white vinegar solution later on.
  • Half rubbing alcohol and half water...Gymboree uses that for their equipment. I also heard you can put stuff that cannot be submerged in water in the freezer for two days and that kills germs.
