Do you get annoyed with friends w/o kids sometimes?

Because they just don't get it?  My friend is planning a last hurrah to being single party in Indy (2 hours away) for an overnight on Valentine's Day.  MH plays in a band so he will not be home that night until 3:30.  So I need a late night/overnight sitter and I'm getting frustrated because they think it is so easy to find one since it is weeks away.  And they are getting irritated because I don't know if I can for sure go yet because of it.

I would love to go, but find me a responsible baby sitter that is old enough to stay out that late that doesn't have plans on freaking Valentine's Day!  (She planned it that night because her H is in the band too and she thought it would be easier since they would be out.)

I guess I'm just frustrated and venting and wanting to feel not alone in that people without kids just don't get it sometimes!

  • all the time!! several of my friends that do have kids dont have schedules at all that annoys me too b/c I am on one and it seems they always want to do something during our nap time..
  • Sometimes I have to tell them that if they need an answer right now, it's no because I don't know if I have a sitter. It's frustrating!

  • Constantly.  I like the "But I just got tickets to the game.  What do you mean you can't go with us?  We were planning on tailgating beforehand too."  Um - hello - what are we suposed to do with the kids with one hours notice?  Or the - let's do dinner.  You can bring the kids, and then they pick a restaurant that is WAY inappropriate for kids to be.
  • I have a lot of it with just not understanding that W. will be a total tyrant at whatever restaurant/activity so that means i will have a miserable time.  Why would I want to go to an event with ouy, jsut to spend the whole time chasing around and dealing with a cranking toddler?
  • Yes.  One set of friends always call us at the last second on Friday or Saturday night wanting to get together.  Hello!  We need way more notice then that.  I can't wait for her to get pregnant!

  • I agree! My family loves to plan things for during the week, which is just not good for us. Or, they don't think it's a big deal if ds misses a nap or something. They're not the ones who have to deal with a cranky toddler!
