Crazy, but I'm getting a tattoo

This is the rough idea of the tattoo I want to get.  I've been searching for ideas for years for just the right one.  I think I'm going to have one and be done, so I wanted it to be perfect.  This symbolizes (to me):

My Scottish heritage
My faith
My marriage
My child(ren)--I'm going to add birthstones either to the points of the knot or on the inside of the knot.

Where should I get it?  I'm thinking on my foot or on my hip.  One of my friends wants to get a tattoo, also, so I think we'll go together the next time she comes "home".  (She lives in CO)

I think that now is a better time to get one than when you were say...16..and somehow convinced that you should get THIS on your leg:

I sooooo want DH to get one at the top of his arm--a maltese cross (see Nora's shirt in my sig--that is almost exactly what I want him to get!).  Hotness.  It's not going to happen.  He's afraid of needles.  Weenie!

no kidding- that is what he is getting----his gran gave him his grandfather's last time we visited nebraska, and last week he declared that that would be what his tattoo would be- how CRAZY!!

When I'm done having kids, I'm getting more.

I like the design, its good that it symbolizes so much to you.  DH got his first one 2 weeks ago. He got our daughters name, her footprints at birth and her birthdate.

I *think* it is going to be black and gray, except for the birthstones.  I'm not sure how big I want it--that depends on where I get it.  It won't be huge, though, that's for sure.  I thought of putting it on my shoulder blade, but then I'd never see it!

I have a chinese symbol that means sister (my sister and I got them when I moves) its on the top of my foot near my pinkie toe... I LOVE it there!!!! its the size of a quarter! what size are you wanting?
