How do you freeze Avocado?

Do you slice it & freeze it? In a bag, plastic container?

I think DD is going to start Avocado tonight!

Re: How do you freeze Avocado?

  • I don't think you can.  I eat it alot and it tends to go brown fairly quickly, which I imagine will happen during the defrosting process.

You can mash it and freeze it. It's sorta like bananas in that it goes a bit mushy in freezing and it will brown. But will dc care? Prolly not. I mashed some with lemon water and froze it. It's still a little khaki-colored but ds likes it fine.

  • Yeah, I guess.  I'm just not a fan of brown avocado, even if it tastes the same...
  • I know in the fridge you put it in a container (cut up) and then put plastic wrap over it directly touching the avocado (so there is no air in between) instead of just over the top. Does that make sense?
  • When making guacamole I use lime juice to prevent the browning.  Not sure if this will work for freezing though.
  • I dont know the answer to this....but on a TOTALLY different subject. i forgot to tell you about what the doctor said about our booty question the other day...haha

She said it is TOTALLY normal! They are most likely just internal hemorrhoids. If it is really bothersome then they could do a surgery to remove them. But just try tucks pads and preperation H, or your doctor could perscribe something for you.

  • You can't use lime juice because citrus is a no no for a LO this young.

I read on the 6-12 month board that mixing it with BM will help prevent the browning, but I haven't tried it myself.

  • Do NOT use lime juice. This is definetly going to stop browning but you're not supposed to use citrus with LO, check out www.wholesomebabyfood.com/
