5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: Some very mild cramping after exercise. I think I feel baby moving from time to time (yay!).
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: Hubby and I got a date night last Friday (we went to a friend's wedding) and DS did great according to my mom. It's always tough to tell how he will react because he does have a good deal of separation anxiety. We have a just us date planned for this Friday and my MIL is watching him. Finger crossed this one goes well, too. Also, thanks to everyone for their bath time advice. I think we narrowed down some of the issues DS had with baths (we finally took off his vaccine band aids which might have caused some sensory issues. And I think he now dislikes water on his face/how water on his head makes him feel cold). We're going to limit baths and try to make the experience better for him.
7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): I'm almost done with Katabasis by R.F. Kuang. I think so far I have enjoyed this novel by her more than all of her other previous work that I have read.
3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: 3rd week of November for that special heart scan and I think my OB appointment is around the same time.
4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: boy
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: I just feel huge. I feel like I’m already struggling to love. I added some compression socks to keep my blood flowing good and I may add in a pregnancy support belt because I feel a lot of pelvic pressure already.
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: we are having a bathroom worked on and someone is in my house in and out all day most days. They aren’t in my way but I have to monitor the kids from going upstairs all day long. So it is annoying. I homeschool so all my kids are will me all the time. I realized on my CO trip recently that I find it unsettling to be away from them and alone which is so hilarious because I crave alone time all the time. I guess an hour of alone time is different from 3 days.
7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): I live in Alaska and hate snow. I get out in it but begrudgingly. I do it for the kids. I like to look at it. Don’t touch me with it though. I’m not the fun snow mom that’s for sure. Anyways, it’s coming down the mountain so it will be here soon.
3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: Midwife mid-November, need to schedule my anatomy scan ASAP. Scheduling around work is hard so I keep putting it off.
4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: Girl
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: nausea and vomiting have returned!! I'm very upset about it. I've also been exhausted, headaches, and a lot of cramping/uterine tension type of pains. I'm sure there's other stuff, but this is really getting to currently.
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: DS2's stitches are healing well per the pediatrician this morning! They're going to take them out Friday. He's cleared to go on his pumpkin patch field trip Thursday too. I feel like he's so fragile right now, but the pediatrician reassured us that he's doing great. Though we do need a dentist appt for him because when he fell in the bath, apparently he cracked his tooth and part of it just fell out. And!!! We found out yesterday that husband's grandma was rushed to the ER and apparently BOTH my in-laws had a MOHS (skin cancer removal) procedure done last Friday?! Hadn't heard a peep from them about it! And it was actually cancerous spots they removed, not just being cautious 🫠 y'all. It's too much at once I'm over it.
7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): @emeraldcity603 I am also NOT snow mom. I appreciate a pretty snowfall and a white Christmas, but I'm also asthmatic and wheeze like a smoker after 5 minutes in the cold. Definitely not an Alaska-level winter here, but we do get sub 0° temps and are more likely to get freezing rain and ice instead of a good snow. Hate it! My husband and I have worked out an agreement that I'm the water/pool parent in the warm seasons and he's the snow parent in the cold seasons. I might go out for a bit, but mostly I wait inside to unbundle wet layers off cold children and pull blankets out of the dryer to warm them up haha.
@thescarletmom holy cow that is a lot all at once! So glad DS is going strong. Major bummer about the tooth!
@emeraldcity603 I live in cold midwestern state and I also hate the cold/snow. Hubby and I stay here for family. I want to be the fun snow mom so bad, especially since this winter DS actually can play in it, but I’m going to be so huge all winter I don’t think I will able to physically wrangle a wet and cold toddler. I also struggle with driving anxiety when there’s snow and ice on the roads so I end up hibernating most of the winter. But with a busy toddler…best of luck to us all lol
@midnightatsunset I also *wish* so badly to be fun snow mom 😂 but pregnant snow mom is so hard! You'd be surprised how must faster your joints stiffen up in the cold (my second was also a March baby, so not my first rodeo being hugely pregnant in the winter. Still better than my two summer babies though 💀). And its harder to take warm-up breaks and go back out multiple times throughout the day, because of all the bundling up and then your gear is cold and wet unless you toss it in the dryer each time. But maybe you'll luck out and DS won't like snow that much and will be content with short adventures. I only have one child who truly thrives in the snow, my 3rd was 1.5yo last winter and it was not her vibe haha.
Between my husband and I, I'm actually the more confident snow driver, but I have significantly worse vision so if it's actively snowing we pretty much stay home unless it's a must.
@midnightatsunset I have good urticaria so I get flu like symptoms when I stay out in temperatures below 30. I toured a glacier in January a few years back and I was sick for a week afterwards but it was -40 on the glacier and I was out there (with a newborn) for 2 hours. Don’t worry, I had my baby very well protected. Anyways, I have found body warmers are very useful for me. I wore them out on our outing today because it was super cold.
@thescarletmom I’m sorry you’re dealing with so much. All that on top of morning sickness returning is just awful.
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: feeling good thos week! Have to pee all the time but otherwise I feel great
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: we found out we are having a girl today! We got cupcakes and the idea was our toddler would take a big bite/smash it open and we would see the colour inside. I didn't account for the fact he is a toddler though, it took about ten minutes and by chance he got the least filled cupcake so we could hardly tell. It was very cute though (he had to sing happy birthday to the cupcake first) and we had a back up cupcake to cut open and double check. I'm very excited, I think my husband is even moreso
3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: November 14 for Anatomy scan and fetal echo
4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: Boy
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: Nausea is basically gone thankfully, I'm just not hungry at dinner time most nights. I feel so huge and uncomfortable that the thought of 20+ more weeks of this is giving me anxiety. I don't have a cute baby bump yet. I have carried past pregnancies really wide into my back and hips and less like a cute round belly. Im struggling with weight gain and aches and pains in general and just feel defeated in that category. I know that we need to just give ourselves grace and let our bodies do what they need to do to grow a healthy baby, but the self conscious side of me is giving major side eye at my current state. I wish I could get myself to take regular walks and do some light strength workouts, but it's just not happening right now.
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: Annoying-> husband is gone for work for the next month or so. Single parenting 3 busy kids + pregnancy + working is taking it out of me. When I get home every night I just fall into bed.
7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): Im definitely not a fun snow mom. Texas doesn't offer that scenario lol I am a fun "let's find indoor activities with good air conditioning" kind of mom! Im still waiting for it to get below the 80s here so I can pretend like I'm a cute fall girl with sweaters and leggings lol
8.) Qᴜᴇꜱᴛɪᴏɴꜱ: What is everyone realistically doing for exercise right now? I need some motivation/peer pressure to do SOMETHING.
@beachmama14 I go for walk with my toddler. Because I have n Apple Fitness+ subscription I will do one of their 10 minute pregnancy workouts from time to time. I also sometimes follow along with a YouTube video from Pregnancy and Postpartum TV.
@beachmama14 realistically, the exercise I get is parading my kids around to fall events on the weekends 😂 I'm lucky to hit 5k steps in a day during the week because I have a very sedentary job. I'm really hoping to get some more consistent movement in during the week here soon, but it always feels like there's *something* getting in the way. My goal is to start doing yoga again, I've always enjoyed Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube. Not sure if she has any prenatal specific videos, but she has a lot of beginner ones! I always start there again when I've fallen off the wagon. If anybody is wanting or needing accountability motivation, we could start a thread on exercise goals? I'd definitely join in!
@lizdiane456 congratulations!! My husband had always wanted a daughter and was definitely the most excited of the bunch when we had our 3rd. Having our kids do the cake reveal was slightly less climatic than we had expected too lol but at least for us DH and I already knew so we weren't on the edge of our seats for it.
3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: Tomorrow for fetal echo, Tuesday for anatomy scan
4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: Girl
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: Lately the RLP has been annoying, and I sometimes get a weird, dull ache in my abdomen when I walk. Also the heartburn is still outrageous.
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: We pulled the trigger and bought the car! My husband picked it up this morning. We love it. We're not going to love paying for it, but we're very happy.
I hate the snow. I'm in NYC and we can get a decent amount of it - luckily it's easily cleared to make commuting easy but then it piles up and can be these gross gray mountains for weeks and even months. It does look pretty when it's all white and powdery and I don't have to go outside.
@fifilala516 thinking of you and hope your scans go well! So glad you're loving your new car! I've been getting that weird dull ache in my abdomen too, it's not something I remember from my other pregnancies either.
3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: Friday check up and anatomy scan first week of November
4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: Girl
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: I have been really tired but I'm not sure it that is a symptom.
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: We are taking lots of steps toward our big move and it's both annoying and exciting. Like we bought our plane tickets and had to change them three times because of conflicting information from the airline about flying our pets. And we are having problems arranging shipping our cars because of stupid state stuff with the titles, which was not an issue when we shipped them here. But the home we will be renting looks great and I'm excited to have more space, I just hope we won't be too broke.
7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): Regarding snow, I really miss the snow! I lived in the midwest for 8 years and now I'm in Hawaii and it's just so hot and dry and no snow at all obviously. We are moving to WA and it doesn't get much snow there either. I think after living in Hawaii with kids that the beach is even harder to get them ready for and deal with than snow play. Between packing all the stuff, then hauling it all to the beach from the car, sunscreening everyone, then changing out of wet stuff and getting home and unloading and then showering everyone then washing all the dirty towels and swimsuits, it is just too much.
@beachmama14 I am currently trying to get into the habit of exercising. I have a Barre Definition account and just went through and scheduled some quick 20 minute workouts I can easily do in the morning before my kids wake up. I hike every Tuesday but at a small child’s pace 😆 because we all have a bunch if kids. So that’s really for socializing with my friends. I always feel so good when I exercise that I tend to want to do it after I start up. For sure give yourself grace. Pregnancy is hard!
@fifilala516 By the end of winter everything looks monotone and ugly. One year I was dreaming of green grass. I so desperately needed color in my life, any color but white and black. I do like when it gets below zero and everything sparkles. I have been on hikes at -20 and little flecks of ice will just be floating around in the air. It’s beautiful. I just don’t want to touch it. 😅
@RoseShadow873 I will say, getting kids ready for snow is just as much of a hassle. Especially if they can’t put their own gear on. I have put a system in place when we go out. The kids put their suits on around their ankles in the car so when we arrive they put hats and gloves on and then pull the suit up and zip up. It takes them less than 5 minutes when we get there. I will even put my toddler’s suit around his ankles and do the same thing. Otherwise it can take me upwards to 40 minutes to get them all dressed in the car. I’m not saying the beach is any better. It’s just that the snow has its own level of hard.
I took my kids to play in glacier mud this last Tuesday and mud play is also hard. I have separate gear for that and an entirely different system for cleanup afterwards. I can do it without even getting mud in my car.
