    EDD / Weeks + Days:  {Nov transplant} Nov 13, 34+4

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: 3rd

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 🩷

Upcoming Appointments: 37 weeks for 36-week appt and GBS swab…they had literally no appointments I could do earlier so I need to call to see if they have any cancellations for late next week.

How are you feeling?  More sore, more insomnia, bigger, slower, buuut ready to get ready for baby girl!

Rants/Raves:  The NP casually said at my 34wk appt on Friday that they don’t want me to go into labor before 36 weeks…I’m there next Thursday, so after next Thursday I could just…go into labor 😳. If I’m honest a part of me is terrified.   I’ve been feeling like we need a bit of a refresh so I signed up for an online birth class I found that seems like exactly what we both need.  I’ve been doing all the pelvis opening moves/stretches from my PT.  Neither guarantee any outcomes but both of those are helping lessen the fear of what will happen and making me feel more empowered.

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like?  I get up, do my lovenox shot first thing then get in the puppy’s crate to slather him with pets while I brush my teeth.  I take him out to potty then set him up with breakfast in the kitchen while I unload the dishwasher and get the kitchen back to baseline before breakfast.  I make coffee and then sit next to him on the floor and stretch / do my coffee and quiet time (currently an audio bible plan).  My kids eventually come down and we work on training puppy not to bark/jump/bite hands etc., then they brush teeth and on school days I’ll get out our pre-prepared breakfasts.  Muffins, protein shake and berries for them; overnight oats for me inspired by the Princess Diana recipe release … we totally hopped on board with that trend, she was a woman ahead of her time 🍊

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: blue!

Upcoming Appointments: growth scan 10/17, 32 week appt on Halloween and will start weekly NSTs at that time too

How are you feeling? Tired. Heavy. Lots of pressure. Like he’s trying to pull a move straight out of the Alien franchise and burst out the front of me. Also still itchy. Apparently also my abdominal muscles are just starting to separate so I am now wearing a support band full time. I also am anemic according to my 3rd tri labs. Not looking forward to upping my iron since I’m already taking 2 stool softeners a day and still having issues.

Also I forgot how sore the Tdap makes you. Ouchie!

Rants/Raves: talked to my doc about getting paperwork done so if I end of needing to schedule a C-section I can get a tubal at the same time. We are 200% done after this kiddo. Still nailing down exactly what we will do if I don’t have a C-section. Probably tubal/vasectomy.

I keep reminding myself I have like 10 weeks left. And while I am absolutely ready to be done with pregnancy…I also do not feel at all ready for him to be here yet.

Questions: if you are having or have had a boy…circumcision thoughts?

GTKY: Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like?

Weekdays I think it would better to say I have a morning nightmare. I am up about 5:45, girls up at about 6, I get them breakfast (I possibly shower), hopefully have coffee, remind them a million times what to do next (wash up, get dressed, brush hair and teeth), get myself dressed/brushed, do lunches and out the door by 7:30.

Weekends? Sleep as late as I can, usually 8, get up, have coffee, feed the gremlins. Usually try to remember if there is anything I have going on that day. Sunday mornings I have been baking muffins for the girls to have for the next couple of days.

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 💕

Upcoming Appointments: Next week for routine OB visit

How are you feeling? Pretty good, catch glimpses of myself and think “oh my god how could I possibly get bigger?” And everyone loves to remind that I will 🙃 some nights I sleep great, other nights sleep doesn’t exist for no reason at all

Rants/Raves: Made brownies yesterday because I felt like it and they are delicious. Pregnancy is my excuse for everything. Also I think I’m starting to get into nesting (cleaned the washing machine yesterday) and it’s tedious but I also kind of love it? Cleaning all the things I wanted to but never made the time to do!

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like? On the weekdays, I get up / ready for work and out the door in probably an hour or less most days. On weekends, I prefer a slower morning with sleeping in, trip to a coffee shop, walk the dog, etc. As a FTM, I’m well aware that my mornings on weekdays will take extra planning and time to get everyone out the door on time 🙃
  • @virginiaham I was thinking that about March.... and now we are up to June! 🫣🙃
@thatbaintforbetty I am very anti-circumcision. I did a lot of research on the pros and cons. It's genital mutilation, done purely for cosmetic reasons. Now if someone is of the devout Jewish faith, I get it, but even then I wouldn't be able to get behind it. It's not a reversible surgery. If he decides when he is older to get one, that's his choice. My husband and I agreed to not have it done. Also, the OB does the circumcision in the hospital, and I have heard it is better to wait until after discharge to have a pediatric urologist do it. It's painful and can get easily infected. There are documentaries on it. There is also a FB group called "Raising Your Whole Baby" that has a lot of really good info on it.

Upcoming Appointments: hematology tomorrow morning (yay blood clotting disorder!), OB check up on Wednesday, and then MFM on the 27th.
How are you feeling? Out of breath and overwhelmed with everything.
Rants/Raves: why is life so expensive? Just in general, everything is so expensive.
    Questions:
GTKY: Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like? I wake up around 4-ish to let the dog out, lay in bed for the next hour and a half. Get up, get my husband's food and coffee ready for the day. Back to bed until 7am. Get up, brush my hair, brush my teeth, wash my face, drink my coffee and eat breakfast. Wait for DS to wake up and make him some breakfast. Pack the bags for work if I'm going to the office, or Crack open my laptop and get started on work while my little guy plays and eats. I also have to let the dog out about 8 times during all of this since she will be 17 this week and can't see or hold her bladder.
  • @thatbaintforbetty I’m not stepping into debate but I I looked into both sides and we made the choice to circumcise for medical (to include patients I’ve met as a nurse in both the ER and PACU) and family reasons.  We stand by our choice for our son and don’t regret it for him but I do see the other side and why others choose otherwise for their children.

  • I'm just tired lol
  • Hubby and I have had discussions on circumcisions. Done what research we can from reputable sources (or at least from what we found to be reputable). For me it came down to personal preference and how we will  discuss and teach our son. I put this topic emphasis towards my husbands because he has insight on how he feels based on what his parents decided for him so we used that too to also decide on what to do.

Upcoming Appointments: 10/8 for general apt and then 10/9 for bpp US (sadly, my office is getting so booked up now that I have to keep my original appointment dates because they have nothing available until December so I can’t move all my appointments to be on the same day each week)

How are you feeling? Tired huge. Uhm so the whole pelvic pain started out of no where today. I got it sporadically when I first woke up but it typically went away. Well today I had a client visit 2+hrs from home and I guess the way I sat in the company car has me flaring up because holy gods does walking hurt like a B.

Rants/Raves: I didn’t have any until went into my offices local cafe and the cashier went ‘DAMN YOU NEED TO BE WORKING FROM HOME YOU DUE NEXT MONTV?!?” So 🥹😅 sir I hope not baby boy is sitting low but damn you don’t gotta say it like that

Questions: any quick relief on pelvic pains? 🥲

GTKY: Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like?

check the time calculate how much longer I can hold my pee before I have to force myself out of bed in which now I have to roll out of bed to not strain myself 😆🤣
  • @thatbaintforbetty without too much detail, with my first my dr said, just do what is done to your husband. your husband knows how to care for himself regardless of a snip or no snip, and he's going to have to teach your son how to care for it himself. I thought that was smart, and that's what we've done!

How are you feeling? so good this week so far! we purchased a new bed and mattress and I'm thrilled. I'd say 75-80% of my hip/pelvic issues are gone now after just 2 nights on the new mattress. my PT agrees that things feel better too.

Rants/Raves: my husband was the one who started the discussion about a new mattress and bed so we went, researched, and made a purchase after going in store to trial them of course. tell me how he's complaining the new mattress isnt comfortable and the new bed frame is too low so it'll take some adjusting. (it's about a foot shorter which is wonderful for me at 5'1" but him and 6'2" he's just not used to it) but too bad, I'm thriving with the new set up 😂

    Questions: n/a

GTKY: Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like?

weekdays I wait until my husband gets the boys downstairs before I get up, do my PT stretches, then I brush my teeth and get dressed. we get the boys fed and the oldest off to school and then when we get home, I tend to have breakfast and coffee then. I can't eat too soon after waking up because I feel nauseous immediately (this is an always thing, not a pregnancy thing). compared to most, we are late risers. weekdays we get up at 7:45 and weekends we can sleep as late as 9am. if the 18m old stays asleep, we don't get up 😂 the 4 year old knows I have a mini fridge in my office stocked with healthy snacks that he can help himself to if he gets hungry but he usually switches on his TV and just watches pokemon until we're all up on weekends. my kids are super agreeable 😂

Upcoming Appointments: had one today! Another in 2 weeks

How are you feeling? Baby’s head is IN my hip bone and it’s not comfortable at all.

Rants/Raves: My husband can’t do anything right 😅 It’s 85% due to pregnancy hormones. I am so ready to be done with this. Also, maternity clothes. UGH. I’m dooooone.

Questions: Should we move to a private FB group?

GTKY: Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like?
My routine while pregnant is to sleep as long as possible, wake up when my kids get me up, feed all of us breakfast and get out the door.
  • @brookejay06 I was wondering if we would make a private group or not. My August 22 group had a private one here and on fb, and then we just ended up migrating to fb messenger, which is really the only way we communicate now. Some people don't have Facebook, or don't want their info/kids on there, which I totally get. I also don't get all my notifications on fb, but messenger works fine. I'm fine with anything.
  • I would like to add a random anecdote. My husband wasn’t circumcised until he was 11, because his foreskin started growing shut. He is adamantly against circumcision, which surprises me for several reasons. 1) There are risks (albeit low) related to keeping it including infection and what happened to my husband. 2) He claims the recovery/experience wasn’t very painful. 3) although he was obviously a virgin before the circumcision, he says a circumcised penis is so desensitised to touch comparatively. It sounds weird, but he does have some sort of grief over wishing he could have his foreskin back for the increased sensitivity during sex.

All of that to say, there are so many cultural and religious factors involved in this decision, but it is a more permanent and impactful body alteration than the societal normalisation of it leads us to feel it is.

How are you feeling? Starting to get real! Had a check up earlier this week on my birthday and got the Tdap shot and flu shot. As my Ob put it a 2 for 1 special.  Who doesn't love shots on their birthday am I right?!😅🙃🥴

Rants/Raves: Rants: Pain in my legs and hips are starting to ramp up. Also my boobs and nipples are tender (normal?). Suppose I should do more yoga -send help!🤷‍♀️. Raves: Sweater  weather is upon us and I'm closer to meeting my first baby!

Questions: Strollers - which one to get?! Made the mistake of going to a baby furniture store over the weekend to add a stroller to my registry with one travel stroller as my go to. Left being indecisive😵, since we will likely travel during Mat leave and after baby has all immunizations. I don't want the stroller to get damaged beyond use will traveling via airplane. I live in a city and will likely commute via public transportation, so extra heavy and bulky strollers will be a hindrance. Yet, we are looking to have more babies in the near term, if the fates allow. Thus getting multiple strollers is not ideal, plus considering we are in a small living space. I suppose I got to start weight lifting!  Was considering just baby wearing at one point but I will have a C-section so for the first month I won't be in any shape to be handling a stroller, car seat, baby and other items needed on the go. Which strollers do you all have / lean toward and why?

GTKY: Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like? I get up in the middle of the night to pee. try to sleep. Wake up 3 hours later, pee again. Drink water because I'm parched at that point. Get ready to commute to work. Would love to have a more productive routine but my body wants to relax most of the time!

Upcoming Appointments: growth scan with MFM on 10/22, 32 week appt with OB on 10/30

How are you feeling? Last Sunday I drove a U-Haul with all of my childhood bedroom furniture in it ~9 hours, and my hips and shoulders are still complaining about it 🫠 Also still feeling like I need a day of rotting in bed to recover from the nursery project I’ve had going for the past couple of weeks. Maybe tomorrow. Otherwise, can’t complain!

Rants/Raves: Despite the fatigue, I’m so excited to see the nursery coming together. I’d been so anti-nursery, but then we cleared out the whole room for the kitchen remodel, which then made it super simple to re-wire the room and add a couple more outlets (an item long on our to-do list, cloth wiring terrifies me), which then required some patching of the walls, which then made a new coat of paint make sense, which then culminated in me flying to my hometown because I got obsessed with the idea of my childhood dresser being the perfect size and height for baby storage/changing table. Whoops! 😅

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like? I often wake up hungry before my alarm. Hop out of bed and take my thyroid medicine, then go to the living room for some tailor sitting and doom scrolling while I wait the requisite 30-60 minutes before I can eat. During pregnancy I’ve been making a breakfast sandwich of egg and cheese on an English muffin for first breakfast that I’m totally obsessed with. On in-office days I then pack up second breakfast (overnight oats) and lunch and head out the door; on wfh days I go for a walk/jog in the neighborhood then shower and plop down with a mug of coffee and a bowl of oatmeal to start work. If I’m not feeling ready to dive in quite yet, my preferred form of morning work procrastination is the NYT crossword.

Upcoming Appointments: Next midwife appt is 10/27.

How are you feeling? Exhausted. Huge. Sore. Tailbone pain has really ramped up and so has hips popping.

Rants/Raves: My husband's job is going so well!! He did have some travel this week but its nothing like it used to be. Its just been so nice having him home almost every night and being able to go to church and all that regularly again.

Im so antsy. We have so much stuff going on between friend's birthdays, my sister's wedding, holidays, preparing for baby and homebirth, new vehicle. I'm just so ready for December so things can slow down.

    Questions: Na.

GTKY: Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like? Getting adjusted to our new routine with my husband home. Up at 6. Coffee and breakfast started. Help my husband get everything ready and off to work. He leaves by 6:45. I finish up our breakfast, make todo list and just have some quiet time till I get the boys up at 7:30. We say prayers, I send big kids out to let the animals out while I make plates. Eat breakfast, do Bible study and any readings, make plan for the day. Then we start homeschooling for the little kids, big kids get sent off for animal chores. Middle kids take turns between homeschool and their inside chores. Then I go out with the little kids to finish up garden and animals chores while the big kids do their independent homeschool stuff. Help big kids while the middle kids watch little kids and play outside and I finish any inside chores that need to be done and start prepping lunch.

@jta41 I take transit frequently and have been looking at the Doona carseat/stroller, which looks so convenient for quick transfers and just generally seems to have become popular in my city. I see them everywhere. Biggest drawback seems to be that there's no conversion option to hold multiple kiddos, but I figure we'll cross that bridge when/if we get there. Worst case I could probably wear one while pushing the other?
@brookejay06 @bridgiebee82 I deactivated my Facebook account years ago, and this about the only thing I would bring it back for (lurked on the BMBs long enough to know that's usually where they migrate to). I will also admit I've gotten extra cautious about sharing photos online due to the explosion of AI data scraping and image creation/manipulation, it skeeves me out. So I'd say I'm open but not all in quite yet? When does the migration usually happen?
@thatbaintforbetty My understanding is that there is also a wide range of regional "norms" for circumcision in the US (I believe the rate is much higher in the south, where I grew up, than it is in the west, where my husband is from). I'm partial to @rebecksah's approach of letting my husband take the lead on that front: I figure he's got the goods, he knows more what to expect from one or the other route, and he'll be the one making sure kiddo takes care of himself properly, so I'll let him decide.
@virginiaham I've definitely been known to grumble about how far I have to scroll down to get to the December 2025 BMB now, haha. A clear reminder of how quickly time is passing, it's wild!
  • @thatbaintforbetty I had my first boys circumcised. I was young and naive did zero research, my husband was, and it just seemed like the norm. After doing some research and really thinking about it, we realized it just wasn't the right decision for our family after all and haven't done it with any of our other boys. Truthfully upfront, its much easier to care for and a lot less worries because with the boys we did have done we constantly worried about adhesions and extra cleaning and so forth because they were so chubby. Of course hygiene either way is an absolute must.

  • @jta41 we chose Uppa Baby Minu as they at least right now can get easily folded up and stored into the overhead bins on airplanes (at least from what I’ve read) I don’t recall if they can get converted to hold 2 children. But I would look into brands that are collapsible and are marketed as airplane overhead bin sized? If that makes sense? This is our first child and we do plan on traveling once he gets his immunizations and saw that stroller worked best for us. (We also have a bigger uppa baby vista v2 we got off Facebook market place and bought the car seat that fits that stroller. Figured since we did that we’d stick to the same brand to make transition with items easier)
  • @jta41 you're right, the tenderness is normal!

I opted for a double stroller because we knew we were going for more than 1 baby, but we did double long, not double wide, so not really conducive to public transit (bus/streetcar wise, subway it's been totally fine). we went that route cuz not a lot of doorways are wide enough to accomodate a double wide stroller, the main one being our own front door 😂 but also our doctor's office. we got a travel system, which came with the car seat and base, as well as the stroller frame and a toddler chair. we're still riding that out but will need a new baby car seat for this current baby since the OG one will expire.

we got an Evenflo Xpand! forgot to say that lol. I went to the store and pushed around a ton of strollers. look for good sturdy wheels that can spin 360! we needed an adjustable handlebar cuz I'm 5'1" and my husband is 6'5"!
  • jta41jta41 member
rebecksah appreciate the feedback especially since I forgot to mention the height difference b/n hubby and I, he is 6’3” and I’m 5’2”. Very valid points!
But my boobs are super tender like don’t touch me damnit tender!

aisleofviewtwo I do see the Doona in my city as well but not that often. Looks good in the short run but nervous about having baby in the carseat for long periods of time.

iwantcookies was also looking at the Uppa baby Vista V3 but appreciate the minu for airplane travel! Love that you got the Vista V2 cause I’m also considering doing the same, get the V2 secondhand. I’m also curious about the travel bag for the Vista, does the warranty still cover second hand models? I assume no but curious none the less.
  • Thank you everyone for the thoughts/opinions on circumcision!

I definitely am more of the “I do not have that equipment so i am only qualified to a certain point on issues concerning it” point of view. DH and I are still researching/talking about it all but we don’t have a lot of people IRL with kids(and even less of them with boys) in which to ask questions/thoughts.

Hot tip:  if you’re looking at a second-hand Vista V2, make sure the rear brake assembly locks both rear wheels when it’s engaged.  We saved $$$$ with used but didn’t know to look out for this and now going down the rabbit hole of getting parts on eBay and researching replacing the broken spring in the rear axle versus just getting some scooter chock blocks for the wheel that won’t engage.  Apparently it’s a common issue.

Not sure if he enjoys these little projects but thank goodness MH is an engineer 😆

PS for private group I’ll go with what the group would like though leaning against FB.  I did a private group here that migrated to Tapatalk and eventually FB and I never made the FB leap.
