How are things going? Any questions?: Well, no matter how this next transfer goes, this will be my last cycle posting here (unless the cycle gets canceled for some reason). I think I have reached the point where I am okay if it doesn’t work out, so that’s good. We were actually surprised the other day by a relative’s pregnancy announcement (one that was definitely unplanned) and normally that would have felt like a punch in the gut so soon after a failed transfer, but it didn’t even bother me. It seemed to bother H, but it’s his family member so maybe that makes it harder.

R/R: It’s been in the 80s lately and I’m tired of the hot weather. We want to go apple picking, but not if we are going to be sweating doing it. I want to have fall weather in the fall!

  • I’m praying this is your cycle! I’m sorry this has been such a hard road for you.
  • Update: My doctor had me do another saline sonogram because she wanted to just make sure there wasn’t anything she could see that might have caused the last transfer to not work. Of course, everything looked perfect. She even commented that she wished everyone’s uterus looked as great as mine. If only that could translate to getting pregnant on my own…
  • @britters314 It never hurts to double-check! Glad you got the all clear with the sonogram, though I know that leaves you with more questions than answers.

Has there been any talk with your RE about trying a controlled cycle or adding some of the other “just in case” protocols to account for inflammation, antibodies, possible autoimmune conditions, etc? I think I recall all of your FETs so far have been natural…
  • @aisleofviewtwo My doctor said she didn’t see any reason to change the protocol we’ve been using since it worked once before. All my tests and everything have always looked perfect, so there’s no reason a natural cycle shouldn’t work. If I wanted to try something different, I’m sure she would let me but she never mentioned anything about autoimmune conditions or anything like that.

    My previous transfers:
FET 1: embryo only partially survived the thaw and I was told it’d have less than 20% chance of success, so we know that’s why it didn’t work
FET 2: successful but ended in MC
FET 3: failed even though everything looked great

None of the embryos were PGT tested, so it’s possible the last embryo had genetic issues.

Our final embryo I’m honestly more worried about its chances of surviving the thaw. It was frozen in 2008 and even though it was vitrified instead of slow frozen, it was an earlier method and my doctor said it is about a 65% chance it will survive the thaw.

    WTO/TWW: WTO, CD1 - here we go!

Timing/Testing/CS: sorry, I’m not familiar with what CS stands for?

How are things going? Any questions?: only just “begun.” We’re both excited but also a little nervous about what this will mean for our family. Potential TW: TFAS. Last time I was on this board talking about DS/DD or even TFAS was kind of discouraged unless pertinent to the conversation. But there was also a separate TFAS thread which I’m not seeing as I suppose there’s not enough in the community at the minute. Is that still a thing? TFAS is currently big for us but I definitely don’t want to upset anyone.

R/R: we’ve recently come back from Disney world in Orlando which was absolutely incredible (I’m a HUGE Disney fan, to put it mildly) but it’s put me behind decorating for Halloween so I feel like I’m in a scramble this weekend to get it done. Luckily, this is still “early” for decorating for Halloween in the UK so I’m not behind any of my neighbours or anything but I feel behind for what I’m used to lol

  • @britters314 in the best way possible, I hope this is my only month interacting with you (unless we ended up on the same BMB). I’m really sorry to hear about the unknowns you’ve been dealing with regarding your recent FET. You sound like you’re in a good headspace with it all though so I’m happy for you in that regard.

  • @jackie_dunny CS stands for chart stalk. In that section you can post a picture of your chart and ask questions about it. As for the TFAS, we did stop doing the separate thread as we had less and less people on the board. Seeing as it’s really only us right now and we are both TFAS (I have two adopted kiddos) I’m fine if you mention it in this thread. You can always feel free to start the separate thread back up if you want to, though.
  • @britters314 ah yes I remember now thank you! I think I’m fine with just the main thread if it’s just the two of us for now. It’s not that I need to mention it all the time or anything of that sort but it was more that it’s currently a big part of our journey in the sense that we always wanted a second but we’re a bit nervous as well, especially DH. We’re mainly nervous what it will do to our finances and how we manage our day to day and honestly our energy levels 😂 DS is almost 4 so starting to be a bit more independent and we’re nervous for what it’s going to do him as well. He seems excited by the idea but I know he doesn’t fully grasp what it means. I don’t want it to come across that this potential pregnancy isn’t wanted because it is, but we’re unsure lol I’d love to hear more about your family’s journey if you don’t mind! Did you adopt both of your kids at the same time?

  • @jackie_dunny No we didn’t adopt them at the same time. We fostered and then adopted both of them and they’ve both been with us since they were ~6 months old, but they aren’t bio siblings so their cases weren’t together. DS1 was adopted at 2 1/2 years old and DS2 was adopted at 5 1/2 years old. They are now 8 and 7. We wanted to adopt from foster care again, but we wanted to just adopt, without the uncertainty of fostering. But we learned that in our state it’s really hard to just adopt from foster care (even older kids) because most kids are adopted by their foster parents. So we landed on embryo adoption and we now have one adopted embryo left to try.
  • @britters314 wow thats incredible! I never heard of embryo adoption!
