    EDD / Weeks + Days 18w5d

    Team blue/pink/green:blue

Upcoming Appointments: midwife and 20 week anatomy scan in 2 weeks. I'm frustrated because I postponed it a week for a road trip and since then we've had issues with out bank and are now waiting for our cards which they sent to the wrong address... 😡 so I'm probably canceling that trip due to bank limbo. And they want to go cashless. 🙄

How are you feeling?: Great just pregnant. 🙃

Rants/Raves: this morning I'm baking as it feels like fall. My oven decides to say it's at 325* and yet it was broiling and locked the door and wouldn't shut off! 😠 so my baked goods were ruined, house filled with smoke and now I need a new oven! And it's baking weather atm! Poor me and my little issues, haha but I'm frustrated!

Also heard this somewhere and tried it.... antibacterial soap used on armpits in the shower prevents BO. It worked!!!! Thought I'd pass it on. I haven't worn deodorant in 2 weeks and only after some heavy work did I have the faintest hint of any!!! 🙌

    Questions: N/A

GTKY: if you're partnered up, how long have you been together? Tell us the whole love story!
My husband and I have been together for  nearly 13 years. Married for 10. We met at a dog park and hit it off instantly. Within a year we moved states and moved to a mountain top together and did life very unconventionally and against all our families wishes. It has been the most amazing 13 years of my life. We were really able to live because we weren't tied down with bills and our jobs were so odd that we had the ability to be free. We lived out of a car on a mountain for nearly a year together with our dogs. We eventually upgraded to a camper. But we got really far ahead by sacrificing early on in that manner. It is surely not for everyone though. Now we are pretty self sufficient and are definitely tied down! 🤣 what a wild ride it has been.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: Jan. 14 / 20w0d

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: I just had my 20-week anatomy scan today, so my next appointments aren't til Sept 24

How are you feeling?: Pretty good! My hands and feet are swelling, and I have some joint aches, but overall, not doing too bad.

Rants/Raves: It's been an exciting day on the baby front! We got to see baby boy at the anatomy scan, and everything looks good. He wasn't too cooperative, so we do have to go back for them to get images of the heart and spine in 4 weeks, but the doctor said everything else looks good and she's not concerned. I have a posterior placenta and baby boy has wedged himself right up against the front of my abdomen, so I'm feeling him kick pretty hard already and even the ultrasound tech commented that it's unusual she could feel him with the wand this early. He's very, very active. The crib we ordered also came in this afternoon, as well as our baby freebie box from Amazon, and we painted the nursery on Saturday, so things are starting to feel real and come together.

    Questions: None today

GTKY: if you're partnered up, how long have you been together? Tell us the whole love story!

My husband and I have been together for almost 14 years and married for almost 9. We met through mutual friends our junior year of college. Funnily enough, I wasn't really looking for a relationship at the time, but he pursued me and convinced me to go out with him. We of course hit it off, and have been together ever since. We were long-distance for the first year and a half, about 3 hours apart at different colleges, and then moved in together shortly after graduating. It's been a wild ride since that first tiny apartment where we were dirt poor. In the years since then, we've lived in 3 different apartments and 2 houses, and we've each had a number of jobs. I'm currently going through a career change. He's been my one constant through it all, and I couldn't imagine doing this with anyone else.

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan next week

How are you feeling?: Tired and a bit achy, but the nausea and vomiting are finally slowing down a bit, so that's great! My hips have started falling asleep at night, though, and that's not a thing I missed form my first pregnancy...

    Rants/Raves: Not really.

    Questions: Also, not really.

GTKY: if you're partnered up, how long have you been together? Tell us the whole love story!

My husband and I met on Match.com about 6 years ago. We hit it off pretty immediately, and we moved in together the week before lockdown. I joked that we'd come out of lockdown either broken up or engaged, and engaged it was! We've been married for four years now, have a house, a dog, and a two year old...he's wonderful and I can't imagine doing life with anybody else!!!

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 20+4; Jan 11 but likely a Jan 4 induction

Team blue/pink/green: Green for now unless we go to a private forum

Upcoming Appointments: had my anatomy scan on Monday! All was good. Next 5-min OB appointment is 9/23. I will be doing the diagnostic glucose test between 24 and 26 weeks (indicated because I had failed a screening test earlier in this pregnancy, so it's no longer a valid test for me.)

How are you feeling?: Pretty great, honestly. I have some physical discomforts related to this pregnancy: coccyx pain especially after a full day of sitting for work, and also hip bursitis. The coccyx pain goes away after a night of sleep, and the hip bursistis is mostly made better by pelvic floor therapy. Although sleeping on the opposite side also helps rest it. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get in for pelvic floor for a while, but I have an appointment for next week.

Rants/Raves: Honestly, I'm just happy with how I'm feeling right now and celebrating it as I know it won't last for much longer. I've also had great success eating fueling foods, that have helped me keep my weight gain at a minimum. By this phase in my first pregnancy, I had gained 21lbs. In this pregnancy, I've thus far gained just under 6lbs. Mind you, I started off this pregnancy 19lbs heavier, so my target weight gain was much smaller... 10-15lbs. But I'm excited that the pace of weight gain has been slow.

Questions: I guess I'm wondering from STM+ what your record has been about going into labor the 2nd time. Because of the tricky time of expected birth, I'm wondering how much thought I need to give to backup childcare plans for my toddler. My sister is planning on coming on Jan 2-3 (the day before induction), but what if I go into labor naturally, and during Christmas/NY holidays... we don't have family nearby so I'd need to make plans with some neighbors.

GTKY: if you're partnered up, how long have you been together? Tell us the whole love story! I met H in 2009 through a mutual friend but at the time, we were passing ships so we just knowingly engaged in "expirational dating" for a couple of months. That was fun, and then we went our separate ways, moving to different cities, countries (he moved to the US; we are both Canadian), and dating all the wrong people. Then in 2017, he ended up back in Canada, and I had just ended a traumatic 5.5yr relationship the month before so I was feeling super vulnerable and wasn't looking to jump back into a relationship. But when we met up for the first in years, it turned out that we still had a lot of chemistry. So, I decided, with my therapist's permission, that he was OK as Mr. Right now. We got married in 2020, right before lockdown, and have been (mostly) happy since then. Of course, having a kiddo challenges your relationship in different ways, but he's still the only person I want to be with / do the parenting thing with.

  • @emeraldmaybythebay that's a great tip re: antibacterial soap! I have to try it. Oh, and I never replied to your inquiry about how work is going... it's actually been great. I'm in a new role, but in a familiar area, and the scope is much smaller, with waaaaay fewer meetings. It's perfect for what I need right now.

@ahume131 what kind of crib did you get?

@marmalade0 are you having similar symptoms this time to your first pregnancy? Besides nausea (which has been over for 6-7 weeks), I'm not yet experiencing the same discomforts, but I am having new ones (see my update). My first pregnancy / delivery definitely changed my physiology so this baby is putting pressure in different places of my body.

  • @acleverusername we got the Babyletto Scoot, primarily for aesthetics tbh. I wanted a white crib, but my husband wanted something with wood tones so we got the Scoot in a color option that was white with walnut accents. It turned out really pretty! The matching dresser should be coming in the next few days.
  • @ahume131 My babyletto is still holding up after 4 babies. It has some bite marks and scuffs but such a great purchase. Yours sounds dreamy.

@acleverusername hahaha I was at my wits end. I didn't want to use strong deodorants and so I'd go without and I just stank. 😅 my poor husband. But I heard that on a podcast and tried it and have been soo happy with the results. I had to share. I love finding odd simple tips like that so I had to share! Lol

With my 1st I labored for about 12 hours.
    2nd was about 9 hours
3rd was 6 hours (nearly had a car baby it was a 2020 so I didn't want to go to the hospital until the very end)
And 4th was about 2 hours (that one was wild my OB pitted me while in active labor and baby came like 40 minutes later. My husband had to deliver him. And thus he got to name him. 🤣)

I labor at home as long as I can. After my last 2 and not living near family, I've decided a homebirth is the best option this go around. I'm close enough to the rural hospital and this way my kids can be unbothered. I'll just be having a baby while they go about their day! 🤭

@marmalade0 a lockdown success!!! 🎉 I know so many people who either didn't make it or found true love during lockdown. It was definitely an either or thing. I always joked that my husband and I had a crash course doing long road trips and sharing a car as a home for awhile. Lol we found out real quick how to get along and if we wanted to! 😅 I tell everyone wanting to figure out if there person is the one to go camping far away. You'll know real quick!
  • @acleverusername My symptoms have been pretty similar. I've had more persistent heartburn this time around, and it started earlier, but food aversions, nausea/vomiting, back pain, round ligament pain, and now the hips falling asleep...that's all par for the course. I suppose the round ligament pain has been in a different spot this go time 🤷🏻‍♀️
