Slow to medium flow nipples

FTM. My almost 16 week old boy is showing me signs he is ready to move up to a medium flow nipple (batting at the bottle frustrated when he is almost done, but not pulling away,  not taking his entire feeding, but acting hungry)…I tried the medium flow nipples…he sucked the bottle down in 10 minutes or less and was super gassy, screaming, uncomfortable….any suggestions?!
