Hello all!
I will be 39 weeks tomorrow and have not dilated at all. My doctor says the baby is still high up. Aside from light cramps I have no other signs of moving closer to labor. In my last weekly check up my doctor said she can induce at 39 weeks and that we could discuss further then. If I were to get induced it would be 2-3 days before 40 weeks. I have done some research and I've seen that getting induced when you are not dilating and baby is high often leads to longer labors and or C-section.
This is my first pregnancy and anxiety is running high at this point. I have increased my movement and increased my walks and nothing!
Any thoughts on getting induced in my situation or any information you can share about your experience getting induced is greatly appreciated.
I hope all you mamas are doing well. Hang in there!
Re: Getting induced
I would try to wait if you and baby are both healthy. I was encouraged to be induced at 39 and 5 days with my first, also not dilated though baby was very low, and I had a 5 day long induction that ended in a c-section. Of course, that won’t be the case for everyone, but hindsight being 20/20 my body just really wasn’t ready to give birth yet and I think there is really only so much that can be done to push labor to start. I did end up having contractions and progressed to a 6, but it took so long to get labor started with all the medications that it stalled at a 6 just because my body was too tired to keep going.
