Re: Weekly Check-In w/o June 9

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 12/26 11&3

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: 3rd

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: finding out, NIPT at appt on Friday!

Upcoming Appointments: follow up for my skin today, diabetic phone appt at some point, 12 wk appt on Friday

How are you feeling? TIRED. Mild nausea and some random brown spotting this morning. Also like im getting bigger/rounder, which my clothes are confirming, didn’t realize how fast it would be with 3.0. Also probably a bit dehydrated. 🤦‍♀️

Rants/Raves: DH forgot I was on pelvic rest and tried to initiate sexy time. I’ve never been so sad to turn a man down. On the upside, I won a photoshoot for the my older 2 and we had to drive a hour and half for it yesterday. I can’t wait to see the pictures, it’s fairytale themed and is going to be amazing!

Questions: if you had the NIPT test, how long did result take?

GTKY: Where is your happy place? The beach or my bed.

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Pink, confirming next week!

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan and MFM consult a week from Thursday!  It happens to be on Juneteenth so my husband has the day off anyway and can go with me.

How are you feeling?  The energetic nesting days are here, followed by feeling absolutely destroyed the next day.  Also I just wish I could poop regularly, definitely was hoping this would stay improved after dropping the progesterone 🙃

Rants/Raves:  I almost missed out on finding a local doula due to not reaching out to anyone until 15/16 weeks.  Loss brain/not feeling like this is going to really happen, is real.  Thankfully I found someone with availability, and she also happens to be amazing.

    Questions:

GTKY: Where is your happy place?  On our screened in porch, drinking coffee and listening to the birds and the wind in the trees.

  • @thatbaintforbetty I did the blood draw for NIPT on a Wednesday evening and the doctor called with results the following Wednesday morning, so just shy of a week for us. They told us to expect 1-2 weeks. In other news, I’m just a couple days ahead of you and and a FTM and my pants are also getting snug, so there’s that 😭

    EDD / Weeks + Days: December 24, 11w5d

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: FTM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 💚

Upcoming Appointments: Thu 6/12 for NT ultrasound + OB follow-up

How are you feeling? More tired but less hungry/snacky. I assume these are both the result of finally being fully weaned off prednisone.

Rants/Raves: We toured a daycare this morning and loved basically everything about it…except their vaccination rates. Colorado allows non-medical exemptions as long as the parents submit a waiver, and I guess that’s a popular choice at the center, bc they said their current vaccination rate is only around 50-55% 🤯 We’ll ask at the place we’re touring tomorrow, too, but now I’ve got a lot of research to do on state/county/city requirements and figuring out how widespread of an issue this is likely to be in our are. It was just totally not on my radar.

    Questions:

GTKY: Where is your happy place? Love a beach, love a park, love a library—pretty much any place I sit in (relative) peace and quiet and enjoy a good book.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 12/7 (14w+1d)

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: FTM

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: We found out from the NIPT testing!

Upcoming Appointments: had one a week ago and now we wait until 7/9 for standard apt and 7/30 for anatomy scan

How are you feeling? Good and bad days. Acid reflux and heartburn has been causing me to get sick more often. I gave up on normal pants 5 weeks ago. My belly just feels so stretched and bloated already. I’m constantly hungry but full and the energy bursts are like 4 hours max.

Rants/Raves: the growing pains are so real. Not enough to have me curl over but definitely an at the wrong moment irritant and then on top of it having to deal with idiotic clients my temper needs to chill 🙃 in other news we’ve decided to start telling the masses (aka social media) this weekend. The hubby doesn’t have socials so his friends and family typically rely on me for updates on him if they haven’t talked to him in a while. ( I only post him when he agrees to it). I think I’m planning on omitting my child’s face from the internet for as long as we can. AI freaks me out🥲

Questions: does pregnancy not feel real sometimes? Maybe it’s my mind in denial some days but I feel like I’m in lala land and forget I’m pregnant even tho I have all the symptoms 😅

GTKY: Where is your happy place? The beach or in the water… I got into scuba dive 2 years ago and last went in Feb. and honestly getting under the water everything goes silent it’s peaceful. I am hoping this weekend we can do some light snorkeling as this is the closest I’ll be able to get into the water for a while😭
  • @aisleofviewtwo oohhh one week isn’t bad!

I haven’t been in my jeans for like the last 2 weeks, it’s been dresses, joggers and leggings. lol. I can’t remember if I gave away all my maternity pants and have been too tired to dig into my closet to find out.

Also thats crazy about the daycare vaccination rates. We’ve been fortunate that we’ve not had to look into to daycares so I have no idea how you’d weigh that against other factors. (But I also think CAs regulations are different, which I definitely agree with harsher rules on exceptions)

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Finding out! Got my NIPT blood work done today! Next apt is on July 10th (just a Doppler check)

Upcoming Appointments: Just had my 12 week apt today. Went well - got to hear the heart beat 🩷🩵

How are you feeling? I feel great other than bloated. And I just feel pressure. I finally told the hubby he can’t lay on me during sexy time anymore, it hurts lol

    Rants/Raves: na

Questions: curious what your thoughts are on the “carrier testing” part of me is asking what’s the point, I can’t control it if the baby might have it :(

GTKY: Where is your happy place? Camping. Relaxing reading a book!!!
  • @iwantcookies I regularly forget I’m pregnant! My husband asked for a book to learn more about pregnancy so I got him The Expectant Father (it came I’m highly recommended by the internet, but open to other recs from the board!) and now every time I suggest an activity he goes to the book to check if I’m “allowed” to do it. It is sweet but also annoying.

@thatbaintforbetty Yeah, I believe CA removed non-medical exemptions in 2015. CO is weird because it can be really socially progressive, especially in the Denver area where we are, but then there’s also this wild libertarian streak that runs through the state that results in some really bizarre (to me) policy decisions.

@Melissa112009 As with NIPT, I think carrier testing can provide peace of mind and/or time to wrap your head around the likelihood of your child inheriting a genetic condition. We did carrier testing as a prerequisite for IVF and discovered my husband and I are both carriers for the same condition. We elected to do PGT-M testing on our embryos so that we’d know the status of each before the FET, which I realize isn’t relevant to you. But we also got to meet with a genetic counselor to learn about the condition, the risks associated with it, lifestyle factors that can mitigate or exacerbate those risks, and available treatments. (In our case, the #1 piece of advice was to never smoke or to stop immediately.) If not now, when will you or your child learn about these things? IMO carrier testing can be really helpful for knowing more about who your child is going to be and helping them make the best decisions for their health at every age.
  • @Melissa112009 I’m a firm believer in “fore warned is fore armed’” but I’m also a data monkey.
Even if it doesn’t change your decisions it can still be helpful information so as to be more prepared in the event of something. I did a whole bunch of carrier/genetic tests with this one that they didn’t offer me before (although that could be that I’ve never started a pregnancy with this health system, just transferred halfway), they stated I only have to do it once, and even though this is definitely the last kid I’d still prefer to know. If there was something and it could be passed down I’d want to be able to tell my kids so they are aware when/if they have kids.

  • Update: The early learning center we toured today has a proper vaccination policy, no non-medical exemptions. Whew! Of course they have a longer waitlist so now we’re having to do contingency planning for if we don’t have daycare for the first 1-3 months I’m expected to be back at work (hybrid, thankfully). But I just can’t fathom sending my too-young-to-be-vaccinated newborn into a less safe space, so we’ll have to figure out a way to make it work.

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: FTM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 🩵

Upcoming Appointments: 16 weeks, next Saturday!

How are you feeling? Mostly okay, just tired with sore boobs every minute of every day.

Rants/Raves: Why do I want only American food when it is so scarce here? Pleaseeeee.  Y'all I would rob a bank and pay any amount of money to buy some real American BBQ. Also, I hate summer. Humidity, bugs, heat... no thanks.

GTKY: Where is your happy place? Anywhere next to the sea! I don't want to be in the water... just next to it. :D Or driving the backroads of my hometown.
  • @thatbaintforbetty Not currently in the US, but I had the NIPT blood draw on a Saturday and had the results back by the next Thursday.  They said it would take about 2 weeks, so I was pleasantly surprised!

@iwantcookies I still feel as if it hasn't really set in for me yet, especially when people ask how I'm feeling all of the time. When I use my pink pregnancy badge for the reserved pregnant women seats on the subway, I still feel as if I'm breaking the rule sitting in the spot!
  • Just jumping on to share a reason I cried today - big big big tears. I missed a flight while sitting AT the gate. I was waiting to hear them call boarding and never did. I refreshed the app a million times and it only said “on time” not “boarding”. There were tons of people in the area, getting on several different planes so the lines were all over the place. Plus- my flight left early…. Didn’t know they could do that??

Soooo here I am SOBBING my way through the airport. Cool. Super cool. Did pregnancy brain make me miss the flight? Maybe. Did the hormones make it a way bigger deal? Definitely
  • @brookejay06 Oh no! I’m so sorry! It happens—we still give my brother grief for missing a flight when he was a teenager because he was focused on the all-you-can-eat chips and queso at Chili’s and didn’t hear them announce a gate change (and he didn’t have pregnancy brain). I hope they were able to get you rescheduled and where you needed to go.

But really, on the topic of pregnancy brain, I didn’t think it would come for us so soon! Yesterday morning I searched the entire house top to bottom look long for my keys…and finally found them hanging in the lock (yep, outside!) from when I’d brought home groceries the previous afternoon 😬
