Win/Whine/WIYC 6/4

This was one of my favorite Wednesday GTKY’s on TTGP back in the day!  The outline stays the same but we tried to come up with different questions for each prompt week-to-week.  It was originally “Win/Wine/Whine” on TTGP but editing to “Win/Whine/What’s in Your Cup” 😉

1. Win - What big or small thing have you been super on top of the last few weeks?

2. Whine - What task or chore would take you 15 minutes or less to do, but you keep forgetting or putting it off?

3. WIYC - What's in your evening cup this week?

Re: Win/Whine/WIYC 6/4

  • 1. Win - What big or small thing have you been super on top of the last few weeks?  Kitchen reset after meals, and getting our next school year planned out and prepped.  Just don’t look at my floors or laundry situation.

    2. Whine - What task or chore would take you 15 minutes or less to do, but you keep forgetting or putting it off? Filling up the soap in our half bath when it’s getting way low — I only think about it when I’m in there and somehow keep just walking away.  …not my husband coming through on that one and pulling another hand soap (from my sink, touché) when it ran out.

    3. WIYC - What's in your evening cup this week?  It’s been sleepytime mint tea with a splash of cream the last few nights but I’ll switch over to a ranch water (minus the tequila) over the weekend…as long as my husband makes it…

  • 1. Win - What big or small thing have you been super on top of the last few weeks?

I don’t feel like I’m winning at really anything right now, maybe cooking/meal planning. There’s still way too much that needs to be done and I don’t have the energy for. I did make sure that the kids had a bunch of snack options since they are out of school.

    2. Whine - What task or chore would take you 15 minutes or less to do, but you keep forgetting or putting it off?

Laundry or dishes. I need to put a bunch of the girls stuff away to make room to fold more. I keep telling them to clean their room so I can get to the dresser but that’s not happening easily. I swear my little one changes clothes 4 times a day minimum and creates a load a day on her own. Also I always seem to remember the dishes/laundry when I can’t/shouldn't do them (like right before DH needs to shower and get ready for work or 4pm when the time of day rates start and it costs more🤦‍♀️).

    3. WIYC - What's in your evening cup this week?

Water, it’s pretty much all I’m allowed. Usually sparkling water, but my 6year old finished off all my La Croix 🤣 and nobody has any good sales this week.

    1. Win - What big or small thing have you been super on top of the last few weeks? The laundry is getting washed! Not necessarily folded or put away, but at least it's clean!
    2. Whine - What task or chore would take you 15 minutes or less to do, but you keep forgetting or putting it off? Ugh, cleaning the kitchen. We bought a house in December. The countertops are tiled, so every crumb gets stuck and it annoys me! But it's so tedious and I don't feel like doing it.
    3. WIYC - What's in your evening cup this week? Ice cold water. So satisfying.
  • @thatbaintforbetty I'm not familiar with time of day rates. Do you live in an area where utilities are restricted?
  • @bridgiebee82 it’s a higher rate per kw for the hours of 4 to 8. So it’s more expensive to use energy at that time. It’s supposed to discourage people from using unnecessary energy at the time of day when it’s at peak usage/consumption, to help prevent blackouts in summer and what not.

I hate it. I understand the concept but it’s particularly annoying when those are the hours I most have the ability to do laundry/dishes/etc. Also no one is turning the AC off at the hottest part of the day when it’s 105+.

@thatbaintforbetty are you in Arizona? We have the time of use options also. We switched a few years ago to the plan where we just pay the same amount every month instead of paying a ton in the summer and nothing in the winter. Makes it easier and I can keep my AC on all day! A lot of people do super cooling and then turn the AC off from 4-8. NO THANKSSSS

  • @alm52386  I can’t imagine turning off the AC in the summer in Arizona. Nope!
I’m in California. We have the option of a higher year round fixed rate or time of day rates. I’ve done the calculations and it would increase our bill enough to not make it worth it to switch to the fixed rate.

It’s one of the reasons we want to move out of Cali, everything is more complicated and expensive. The drawback is that we (more me than DH) are very liberal and most of the states I would consider are just as expensive or have other major drawbacks. Honestly we would love to move out of the country but that also is a bit more complicated as neither of us have an easy path to citizenship/job security elsewhere. It’s a work in progress.
