2nd Trimester

Tinnitus (Ear Ringing)?! Looking for Hope!!

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in my second trimester and have been dealing with sudden, constant tinnitus in my left ear since around 7 weeks pregnant. It’s a ringing/buzzing/beeping sound in my left ear and hasn’t let up—45 days and counting. It’s unilateral and persistent, and it’s been seriously affecting my mental health. The anxiety and depression it’s causing have been overwhelming.

So far, I’ve seen three ENTs, a few general physicians, and my OB-GYN. All of my tests—hearing exams, bloodwork, blood pressure, iron levels, etc. - have come back normal. None of the doctors can pinpoint a cause or offer a solution.

From what I’ve read, most pregnancy-related tinnitus cases involve pulsatile tinnitus (whooshing/heartbeat sounds) and usually develop later in pregnancy or postpartum due to things like fluid retention or blood pressure changes. Mine seems different—just classic ringing in one ear.

My husband has been incredibly supportive and optimistic, constantly reassuring me that this could just be a weird pregnancy symptom that will pass. But I’m terrified that it won’t.

Has anyone else experienced this during pregnancy—or know someone who has? Did it ever go away? I’d love to hear any stories, advice, or reassurance. Anything at all would be so appreciated right now. Thank you!

  • I'm praying for you and speaking Jesus over you and your situation. Especially for the fact it is impacting your mental health. This should be a joyous time, journey. Keep your head up mama. I don't know how often you experience this. But I want to encourage you when you do. Speak life and goodness over yourself and baby. Some things we just can't explain or understand. Use it for good, when you hear the ringing let it be a reminder to speak goodness over this pregnancy and your miracle growing inside you♥️ let nothing steal your joy.
    God bless you.

  • So sorry you’re dealing with this!! Unfortunately, I’ve been dealing with the same thing but instead of ringing or beeping, my eardrum feels like it’s fluttering. I totally understand how it’s affecting your mental health-my fluttering is driving me NUTS!!! Mine is also unilateral too. Nothing has been able to fix it or help and it comes and goes without reason.Ike you, hoping it’s just a weird pregnancy thing!
